I OPENED AN AMALA JOINT WITH 105 MILLION NAIRA IN ABUJA

“I opened an amala restaurant last year. I said, ‘Let me create jobs.’ ₦105 million in Abuja. Let me at least take 50 people out of poverty. My brother, they chopped the amala restaurant and finished it in five months. First, they stole two generators so my POS wouldn’t work, then they started telling customers to transfer to their accounts… They turned me into a national cake. They didn’t know they were destroying themselves because I created that job for them. They are out of a job now, and I have scrapped the place and sold it for ₦58 million. Investment gone.”

💡IMPORTANCE OF LIGHTS💡

Lights are a major reason for failure at a vehicle’s annual test. Headlamps are the most common source of problems, with many failures due to headlamps being misaligned.

💡Check all your lights are working and clean, including indicators, brake lights, fog lights, reverse lights, and headlights. It’s unsafe to travel if any of these are dirty or broken.

💡When driving at night or in winter conditions take the opportunity to check your lights at the end of each rest period before you start driving again.

Most drivers simply get into the car, start it, and don’t even think of lighting or the fact that it can provide security. But most of the light is about security and communications.
The headlights and tail lamps ensure that other drivers see you, even in reduced visibility. This is crucial to avoid accidents.
The drivers must be aware of the fact that daytime running lights do not turn on the tail lights and the headlights, but in bad weather, such as rain, snow, fog, or when darkness falls, you need these lamps.

A part of the “be seen” concept is that people see you when you go on the road. This work will do the headlights. Motorists must make sure that both the low and high beams are properly working. Headlamps you should regularly check (whether with help) to see your way, and not blind the oncoming drivers (it can occur if the lamp is set too high). The headlight lenses must be kept clean (because of the time and the abrasion from the road a dirt layer can form on the lenses).
When you travel with beams and the oncoming car is within 150 meters or the car in front of you is within 60 meters, switch off the high beam headlamps.

The second most important part of the lighting is the fog lights. The majority of drivers don’t know when to use these special lights. You can use them when the fog is dense, but the headlights aren’t sufficient to ensure the appropriate visibility (the droplets stuck in the light). In this case, the headli

Tips for Driving in the Rain

•1. Wait Until the Weather Improves if Possible:
If you feel uncomfortable driving in the rain and can postpone your trip or commute, wait until the weather improves before driving. There is no reason to put yourself in danger if driving in wet conditions is not necessary.

•2. Double Check Your Car’s Equipment:
Make sure that your car’s equipment is in working order before encountering rainy weather. Check your headlights, tail lights, and windshield wipers to make sure that they will work efficiently when they are needed. Also, check the tread of your vehicle’s tires. Balding tires can severely reduce traction on wet roadways.

•3. Slow Down:
Not only should you adhere to the posted speed limit when driving in wet weather conditions, you should drive considerably slower than you normally would. Wet roads are very dangerous. Your vehicle’s reaction time is much slower when it is raining. Reduced speed is imperative in rainy weather.

•4. Turn On Your Headlights:
Most countries require drivers to turn on their vehicles' lights while driving in rain. Even if it is only misting, turning on your vehicle’s headlights will increase both your own visibility and other drivers’ ability to see your car on the road.

•5. Use Your Windshield Wipers:
While this may seem like common sense, some people forget to turn on their windshield wipers in light rain. Most cars’ windshield wiper speed is adjustable to clear moisture from the glass in a light mist or in a heavy downpour. There are also several products available that can be sprayed or wiped onto the glass and claim to defer the collection of rainwater.

•6. Maintain a Safe Distance Between Cars:
Keep a greater distance between your vehicle and the car in front of you. Stopping your vehicle will be more difficult when driving in the rain. Maintain a distance of several car lengths between your car and other vehicles.

•7. Avoid Heavy Braking:
Try to slow your vehicle by taking your foot off

When you see a learner with an L sticker, expect the following;

1 He/she might do the unexpected.

2 Expect emergency brakes.
3 He/she might be too slow on the road.

4 He/she might forget to indicate.
5 Being on the wrong lane all the time.

Solution/ Conclusion
1 Keep distance.
2 Don't hoot at them because they might panic and apply emergency brakes.

3 Support them and don't throw hands or shout at them showing them how they are wasting your time while on the road.

No matter how bad the road is, slowing down will take you there safely. Don't get into the lane of oncoming traffic.

FEC Approves N900bn to Upgrade Aviation Infrastructure

The federal executive council (FEC) has approved contracts worth over N900 billion for infrastructure upgrades in the country’s aviation sector.

Festus Keyamo, the minister of aviation, announced the approvals after the council’s meeting on Thursday, commending President Bola Tinubu for prioritising the sector.

Today, it was the turn of aviation to get the kind attention of the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund, and we are very grateful that His Excellency the President decided to turn his attention to aviation for massive infrastructural upgrades across the country,” he said.

Keyamo said the centrepiece of the approvals is the full rehabilitation, upgrade, and modernisation of Terminal One of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The politician said the project would strip the terminal down to its basic structure and rebuild all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

“We have decided to strip it down to only the carcass, and then do the complete M and E again,” he said.

Keyamo said the overhaul — funded through the renewed hope infrastructure development fund — has been awarded to the CCECC, which also constructed the new Lagos terminal two.

The minister said Terminal Two will also undergo expansion, including the construction of a new apron, access roads, bridges, and associated works.

“The total cost for all these rehabilitations of Lagos airports will come up to N712,258,565,482.18, with a completion timeframe of 22 months,” he said.

Keyamo said the FEC also approved a major upgrade to Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, covering the rehabilitation of runways and taxiways and upgrading airfield ground lighting to category 2 standard.

He described the funding as one of the largest single investments in airport infrastructu
