Self discipline is a practice that's both important and hard to maintain.

The first step in self discipline is being aware of your procrastination tendencies. This can feel like a bit of a leap, but it's important to be open to the idea that you're not always in control of what you do and when you do it. It's also normal to feel anxious about beginning a new task or project: be gentle with yourself if this happens, and try not to beat yourself up over it.

Once you've identified your tendencies, start by setting small goals for yourself that are easy to accomplish. For example, try saying "I'm going to do one errand today" rather than "I'm going to run all the errands today." This way, even if you don't complete all your tasks right away, you'll have taken some action!

Then, once you've accomplished some small goals—like running one errand—schedule another one for later that day or tomorrow. Repeat this process until your entire week is planned out ahead of time. You'll find yourself feeling more comfortable with self discipline as time goes on!
