WHAT IS HOLISTIC SELF-CARE?

Self-care is the process of intentionally taking care of yourself to promote health or/and manage illness.

Holistic Self-care is when you practice self-care in all aspect of wellness.

Some aspects of wellness might seem "bigger" than you or "out of you control" [eg environmental wellness]. However, the contentment you get from doing your own part provides just enough peace and wellness for you.

Yoruba adage says "eni ti o ba gbale nile mo fún" meaning "the floor is clean for the one who swept it". Others may not have the satisfaction of having a clean floor because they were not involved in process or they didn't even witness it when it was happening.

No one has a perfect life but you can truly be happy and less stressed if you "intentionally" act on different aspects of your life.

This question went around on many Facebook groups in the past few days. Going through the comments, I think it's important for people to understand the real concept of "stress". Yes many said "stress" is the culprit. That's the short and straight to the point answer. But many people think stress means being always "busy" or Having many things to do or not having money.

However, have you come across someone who doesn't do much physically and is still stressed? Or someone who is obviously living their best life with low income....

Many factors contribute to how "stressed" you are. Understanding these factors gives you an unfair advantage to hack your own wellness and live a less stressed life.

I'll be discussing what "stress" really means and how to manage its different types and forms.
