THE LIVING WATER DEVOTIONAL
DATE: WED, AUG 26, 2026
TOPIC: GOING FURTHER WITH JESUS 1
MEMORISE:
But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, 'Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well' - (Luke 8:50).
READ: Luke 8:49-56 (KJV)
EXPOSITION:
Jesus often related to His disciples based on their level of faith and spiritual maturity, as seen in various instances where He would ask nine disciples to stay behind while He went further with the other three. In today's passage, Jairus invited Jesus to heal his dying daughter. Jesus agreed and began the journey to Jairus' house. However, a large crowd surrounded Him, slowing His movement. When they reached Jairus' house, Jesus allowed only few persons to go further with Him. What about the other nine disciples?
In our Christian journey, many follow Jesus, but some have no real expectations. They have not experienced God's wonders firsthand; they only hear about them. Others are like the spectators in Jairus' house, doubting miracles and quick to mock failures. Sadly, some believers stay behind with the crowd, missing deeper blessings of faith.
What we experience with God depends on our faith and maturity. To see His miracles and wonders, we must grow daily by walking closer with Christ. His works are progressive and going further with Him brings greater experiences of God's power. Are you longing for God's miracles? Take steps of faith and go further with Jesus.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, increase my faith and help me to go further with You daily.
2. Father, remove every distraction that holds me back in my walk with You.
3. Pray for more of God's power and presence in CAC Anosike Region, in the life of our father, the Regional Superintendent, other officers and members at various levels, in Jesus' name.

DATE: TUE, AUG 25, 2026
TOPIC: LOST IN THE CHURCH: HEAVEN REJOICES
MEMORISE:
I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance - (Luke 15:7).
READ: Luke 15:7 (KJV)
EXPOSITION:
When someone who is lost turns to God, heaven celebrates with great joy. Jesus explained this in His parables about the lost coin and the lost sheep. Every person is precious to God and He wants everyone to be saved. In Luke 15:7, Jesus tells us that there is more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over many righteous people who do not need repentance.
Sadly, some people in the Church are still lost. Like we observed in our previous doses, they attend services, sing and join activities, but they lack true relationship with God. It is our responsibility to help them find salvation.
In the story of the lost coin, the woman lit a lamp and searched carefully until she found it. This teaches us to put effort into helping the unsaved. The goal is not just to make people feel comfortable in the Church but to lead them to eternal life in Jesus Christ through sound preaching/teaching of His Word.
Take this important task seriously. Heaven is waiting to rejoice over every sinner who turns to God around you. Pray for those around you, share the gospel with love and guide them to Christ. Your effort would bring people to salvation and fill heaven with great joy.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, help me to care deeply for the salvation of others.
2. Father, may my actions evangelistically bring joy in heaven.
3. Pray for CAC JABU, the principal officers, staff and students as led by God's Spirit.
RECOMMENDED HYMN:

DATE: MON, AUG 24, 2026
TOPIC: LOST IN THE CHURCH: THE HIDDEN SOULS
MEMORISE:
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise... but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance - (2 Peter 3:9).
READ: 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)
EXPOSITION:
Some people in the church seem very active, but deep inside, are far from God. They might belong to the choir, ushering team or even teach Sunday school, but their hearts are not right with Him. They appear holy on the outside, but their lives are still tied to sin. The Bible talks about sins like envy, drunkenness and selfishness (Galatians 5:20-21). Even if people are part of church activities, living in sin means they aren't truly saved. They might look like they belong, but they are spiritually lost. It is our duty to help these hidden souls come back to God. Like the mother who searched for her son on the plane, in our discourse on 22nd August, we must not stop looking for them.
God doesn't want anyone to be lost (2 Peter 3:9). He wants everyone to turn away from sin and be saved. We must take this seriously. Those who are lost in the Church could be your family, friends or colleagues. They may seem okay on the outside, but they desperately need God's salvation.
As a church, we must actively seek out those who are spiritually lost. Whether big or small, every church unit should aim to bring people to Christ. God's grace is powerful enough to save anyone who turns to Him.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, help me to notice the lost souls around me and work towards their salvation.
2. Father, save those who are spiritually lost in the Church.
3. Dear Lord Jesus, visit Your church as You visited the temple to turn the table of money changer in those days, to truncate demonic agenda to turn church to den of robbers.
RECOMMENDED HYMN:

TOPIC: BENEFITS OF GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH SUBORDINATES
MEMORISE:
Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed - (John 8:36).
READ: Exodus 3:7-10 (KJV)
EXPOSITION:
Today, we reflect on a dark chapter in history, the slave trade, and celebrate its abolition. We also turn to God's Word, where He shows His deep care for the oppressed. In Exodus 3:7-10, God reveals His plan to rescue the Israelites from Egypt. This reminds us that God cares deeply about those who suffer and calls His people to action. The abolition of slavery shows humanity's fight for justice, but true freedom comes from Jesus. This is the import of John 8:36. Jesus doesn't just free us from physical oppression; He liberates us from the chains of sin, fear, and hopelessness. His freedom brings lasting peace, joy, and purpose.
As we mark this day, let us examine our hearts. Are we carrying burdens, such as guilt, bad habits, or worries, that hold us back? Jesus invites us to surrender them to Him and live in the freedom He offers. He also calls us to be His hands and feet, to help others know freedom. Whether through prayer, speaking out against injustice, or acts of kindness, every small step makes a difference.
Let this day inspire us to live as people who are free—not just physically, but spiritually—bringing hope and restoration to the world.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, thank You for the freedom You give through Jesus. Help me to live fully in Your grace.
2. Father, use me to bring freedom and healing to those who suffer injustice.
3. Lord, bless all who fight for justice and protect the oppressed. May they reflect Your love.

TOPIC: LOST IN THE CHURCH: THE REALITY OF BEING LOST
MEMORISE:
For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost - (Matthew 18:11).
READ: Luke 15:8-10 (KJV)
EXPOSITION:
A mother and her young son got on a big plane filled with many passengers. Soon after the flight began, the mother went to use the restroom. When she came back to her seat, her son was missing. She searched everywhere on the plane, asking for help. The flight crew even checked the passengers' list and found that her son's name was not on it. But the mother was certain her son was on the plane because they had boarded together.
This story reminds us of what happens in some churches today. Many people gather to sing, pray and worship, but some are spiritually lost. Their names are not written in the Book of Life. They are actually part of those who dwell on the earth... whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8). They might appear active in church activities, e.g. choir ministry or Sunday school teaching, but they do not truly know Christ.
In Luke 15:8-10, the lost coin was inside the house but still missing, just as some people are physically in church but haven't found salvation. We are to seek and lead them to Christ. Like the woman who searched for her lost coin, we mustn't give up until they are found and led back to Christ.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, open my eyes to those who are lost in the Church, so that I can be used of You to lead them back to You.
2. Father, may Your grace bring every lost soul to salvation.
3. Lord Jesus, help the church to be committed to pointing the membership to You, their only Lord and saviour.

TOPIC: TAKE THEM ALONG
MEMORISE:
So Moses arose with his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up to the mountain of God - (Exodus 24:13).
READ: Exodus 24:9-18 (KJV)
EXPOSITION:
World Senior Citizens' Day reminds us to the wisdom of older generations while preparing the younger ones to take on responsibility. Leadership is not simply about giving instructions; it is about guiding others and involving them in the journey. Moses also understood this. When he went to meet with God, he did not go alone; he took elders and his assistant, Joshua, with him. While the elders remained behind, Joshua went further with Moses to witness God's presence.
This principle shows the importance of teaching and preparing those who will continue the work after us. Tasks can be learnt; however, if future leaders do not understand faith, prayer, or spiritual commitment, they may struggle to keep things going. Moses guided Joshua by bringing him into a deeper experience of God's presence.
Jesus did something similar. At key moments, such as during His prayer in Gethsemane, He included His closest disciples. Witnessing Jesus' devotion helped prepare them to live in faith after His ascension.
Whether you are a leader, mentor, parent, or guide, take others with you on your journey. Involve them in prayer and service, teaching them the values that sustain God's work. One day, they will continue the path that you have started.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, forgive me for times I have worked alone, forgetting to prepare others for the future.
2. Father, give our leaders the wisdom to identify those who should be taken along.
3. Lord, help us to handle transitions wisely, ensuring Your work continues across generations.

TOPIC: LIVING ABOVE PRAYER TERMINATORS
MEMORISE:
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! - (Matthew 7:11).
READ: Matthew 7:7-11 (KJV)
EXPOSITION:
To live above prayer terminators, we must examine our lives regularly. Are you confessing our sins and maintaining peace with others? Are you avoiding worldly distractions and praying with the right motives? These are essential steps to ensuring your prayers are effective.
God's Word encourages us to ask, seek and knock in faith, while trusting that God is the loving Father Who answers prayers (Matthew 7:7-11). However, our prayers must be free from hindrances like sin, strife, selfishness and worldliness. To ensure we live above these limitations, we must dedicate ourselves to holiness and a strong relationship with God.
God desires to bless us, but He also requires us to live in obedience. When we approach Him with pure hearts and align our prayers with His will, we open the door to His blessings. Let us persevere in prayer, trusting that God is faithful to hear us when we seek Him wholeheartedly.
As we live above these prayer terminators, we position ourselves for breakthroughs and testimonies. Draw closer to God each day, keeping your hand clean and your heart pure.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, help me to live a life that pleases You and attracts answered prayers.
2. Father, strengthen my faith and remove all obstacles to my prayers.
3. Pray for CAC Research and Development Department, the Director and other staff member, as led by the Spirit of God.

THE LIVING WATER DEVOTIONAL
DATE: SUN, AUG 16, 2026
TOPIC: CROSS WITHOUT SHAME 2
MEMORISE:
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. - (Galatians 2:20).
READ: Matthew 16:24-27 (KJV)
EXPOSITION:
The cross is not just something we carry as a burden; it is a call to stand for the Truth in a world that often rejects God and His ways. Today, we live in a time where evil is celebrated and corruption is seen as normal. To carry the cross means to stand up for what is right and follow the example of Jesus. It is about showing love, patience, kindness and compassion to others, even when it is difficult to do so.
Carrying the cross also means being bold in sharing the Gospel. It is about helping others to know Jesus and saving them from being separated from God forever. This is the most important mission of every Christian. If we refuse to take up the cross and share the message of salvation, we are not truly following Jesus.
The cross reminds us that we are God's representatives here on earth. Our lives must show His love and truth, even when the path is hard. When we carry the cross faithfully, heaven celebrates, because we are doing what God has called us to do. The cross may feel heavy at times, but it always leads to victory and eternal joy in Christ.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, help me to live faithfully as Your disciple each day.
2. O God, give me strength and courage to share Your message with others everywhere I go.
3. Lord Jesus, help the Church to practically live for You as Your sole representative.

TOPIC: YOU ARE AN INFLUENCER 2
MEMORISE:
Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ - (1 Corinthians 11:1).
READ: John 21:1-3 (KJV)
EXPOSITION:
In John 21, Peter, a leading disciple, decided to go fishing, and other disciples followed him, even though he had not instructed them to do so. His influence as a leader caused others to follow him. This illustrates the power of influence, whether intentional or not.
Jehu chose to follow the ungodly king Jeroboam's sinful ways. By doing so, Jehu not only led himself astray but also caused Israel to suffer under God's judgement. Both the bad influencer and their followers paid the price. This reveals the grave penalties of negative influence. It is even more critical in our present age of rapid communication and online platforms. Social media influencers shape values and behaviours. Examine the content you consume, share and support. What is your influence on others?
The influence of a leader can affect an entire nation. Jehu's failure brought calamity to Israel, but leaders who follow Christ bring blessings and transformation to their generation and beyond. Whether in your church, workplace, or family, use your influence to guide others towards God's truth. Influence is not just about power; it is about responsibility.
May God help us to reflect His love and truth in all our actions. Let your words and deeds point others to Christ, ensuring that your life brings glory to Him.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, empower me to use my influence to glorify You and lead others in Your ways.
2. Father, protect our youth from the grip of harmful and immoral influencers.
3. Pray for the CAC Ministers' Wives' Fellowship, our mother, the leader, other officers and members as led by the Holy Spirit.

DATE: WED, AUG 12, 2026
TOPIC: YOU ARE AN INFLUENCER 1
MEMORISE:
But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart; for he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam, who made Israel to sin - (2 Kings 10:31).
READ: 2 Kings 10:28-36 (KJV)
EXPOSITION:
On this International Youth Day, think about how your life influences others. Whether we realise it or not, our actions leave an impact. Some people use their influence for good, while others cause harm. Jeroboam, king of Israel, was remembered not for achievements but for leading the people into sin through idol worship (1 Kings 12:28). His choices created a legacy of disobedience.
Jehu, another king, began his reign well but failed to fully follow God's law. He allowed the sins of Jeroboam to continue, leading others astray instead of encouraging them to serve God. These stories show us the great power of influence.
Today, influence spreads faster than ever, especially on social media. What you share, follow, or like can inspire others—or mislead them. Paul reminds us to follow only those who live by Christ's example (1 Corinthians 11:1). This teaches us to be mindful of who we allow to influence us and how we influence others.
Your choices matter. Are you guiding others closer to God or leading them away? Influence is both a gift and a responsibility. Use it to uplift others and build their faith.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, help me to be a positive influence on everyone who looks up to me.
2. Father, guide me to follow only those who live faithfully for Christ.
3. Pray for more of God's power and presence in CAC Akiling Region, in the life of our father, the Regional Superintendent, other officers and members at various levels, in Jesus' name.
