Doctors at Chi Mei Medical Centre in Tainan discovered her right kidney was swollen and filled with stones measuring between 5 mm and 2 cm — all caused by chronic dehydration and excessive sugar intake.
According to Dr. Lim Chye-yang, the lack of water made her urine highly concentrated, allowing minerals to crystallize into stones. Normally, kidney stones are most common in men aged 50–60, but this rare case highlights a rising concern: young people are developing lifestyle-related kidney issues due to sweetened drinks and poor hydration.
