HYPERTENSION/BLOOD PRESSURE
Hypertension is a condition that occurs when blood pressure in the arteries is persistently high.

While blood pressure becomes high when the arteries become hardened and blocked due to the build up of fat, cholesterol and other substances.

What causes high blood pressure?
-hormone disorders
-excessive intake of alcohol
-can be caused by oral contraceptives.

Symptoms to look out for:
-headache
-dizziness and drowsiness
-irregular heartbeat
-flushing and feeling hot
-severe hypertension may cause sudden nose bleeds.

Long term effects of hypertension:
-stroke
-heart and artery damage
-kidney damage
-vision loss (blurred and double vision)
-hypertensive crisis
-nausea and sometimes vomiting.
