Science-backed hair & skin care for African women | The Scalp Fix - available now on Selar

Four minutes. That is all it takes to completely change the health of your scalp if you do it correctly and consistently. Scalp massage increases blood circulation to your hair follicles, delivering the oxygen and nutrients they need to produce strong, healthy hair. Studies have shown that just 4 minutes of daily scalp massage over 24 weeks significantly increases hair thickness. The technique matters — always use your fingertips, never your nails, and work in slow circular motions from the temples inward. Add rosemary oil or peppermint oil to boost circulation by up to 40%. Do it on dry or slightly damp hair, not soaking wet. Start tonight. Your follicles are waiting.

If your hair is shedding more than usual, your body is trying to tell you something. Hair loss in women, especially African women, is almost never random. DHT hormone quietly shrinks your follicles over months before you even notice. Chronic stress spikes cortisol and forces your hair into its resting phase early. Dehydration weakens the hair shaft from root to tip. The wrong products block your follicles completely. Nutritional deficiencies, especially iron and zinc, can halt hair production altogether. The good news? Every single one of these causes is addressable. But first you have to know which one is yours. Save this pin and start investigating your root cause today.

Most women treat all scalp problems the same way, and that is exactly why nothing works. Your scalp has a type, and every type needs a different approach. Whether you have an oily scalp flooding your roots with excess sebum, a dry scalp crying out for moisture, or a combination scalp that confuses everyone, knowing your type is the single most important step in any healthy hair journey. Dandruff is not just about hygiene. Sensitivity is not just about switching products. It starts with understanding what your scalp actually is. Save this pin, identify your type, and start treating your scalp the way it actually deserves.

If you’re dealing with dandruff, flakes or constant itching…
You’re not alone.
But the truth is this, most people are treating it the wrong way.
That’s why it keeps coming back.
As a pharmacist, I created a simple step-by-step guide to help you fix it properly.

Your dandruff is not a hygiene problem. Let me explain 👇

As a pharmacist, the question I get most from African women is "why does my dandruff keep coming back even when I keep my hair clean?"

The answer is simple. Dandruff is not caused by a dirty scalp. It is caused by a fungus called Malassezia that lives on every scalp which thrives in our humid African climate.

That is why:
→ Washing more does not fix it
→ Coconut oil on your scalp actually makes it worse (the fungus feeds on it)
→ Most anti-dandruff products were not formulated for African hair

The good news? Once you understand the real cause, it is very treatable.

I wrote a 30-page guide called The Scalp Fix (the science, the routine, the ingredients, and the myths). Written specifically for African hair in humid climates.

That satisfying pop? Your skin is paying for it for months. 😬

As a pharmacist, I need you to understand what is actually happening inside your skin when you squeeze a pimple, because it is the opposite of what you think.

The bacteria doesn't come out. It goes deeper. It spreads sideways. It creates new pimples. And on melanin-rich skin, the dark spot it leaves behind can take up to a year to fade.
