Hello Ladies and Mamas in the house, have you ever had a cervical cancer screening test before?
Do you have an idea of what cervical cancer is?
Please read this article.

WHAT IS CERVICAL CANCER?

Cervical cancer is a disease in which the cells of the cervix, the lower part of a woman’s uterus, become abnormal and grow uncontrollably.

WHAT RISK FACTORS ARE LINKED TO CERVICAL CANCER?

Most cases of cervical cancer are found in women younger than 50. It's rare in women younger than 20.

Risk factors for cervical cancer include:

1) HPV infection. Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common cause of cervical cancer. An HPV infection is usually harmless and temporary. Anyone, male or female, who has had s*x can get an HPV infection.

2) S*x at a young age or with multiple partners. Both of these put you at increased risk of cervical cancer. You get high-risk HPV by having s*x with someone who has the virus. A person with HPV may not have symptoms.

3) Smoking. If you smoke, you are about twice as likely to get cervical cancer as women who do not smoke. Chemicals in ci******es end up in your bloodstream and in the mucus in your cervix.

4) Infection with HIV, or a weak immune system. HIV is the virus that causes AIDS. Women with HIV also have a weak immune system. If you have HIV, it’s harder to get rid of a high-risk HPV infection. This leads to a higher risk of cervical cancer. Taking medicines that weaken the immune system raises the risk of cervical cancer, too.

5) Three or more full-term pregnancies. Women who have three or more full-term pregnancies are at increased risk for cervical cancer.

6) Use of oral birth control. Long-term use of birth control pills increases the risk of cervical cancer. Your risk may go down after you stop taking birth control pills.

7) A personal history of cervical cancer. If you've had cervical cancer before, you have a higher chance of getting cervical cancer again.

8)Mother or sister with cervical cancer. Some studies show that having a mother or sister who has had cervical cancer increases your risk for the disease.

9) Past chlamydia infection. You can become infected with these bacteria during s*x. Some studies show a link between chlamydia and cervical cancer.

10) A diet low in fruits and vegetables. This is especially the case if you don’t eat enough foods with carotene and vitamins A, C and E. These foods can help lower your risk of cervical cancer.

11) A mother who took the medicine Diethylstilbestrol (DES) while pregnant with you. Between the years 1940 and 1971, doctors sometimes prescribed this medicine to women who had miscarriages. The majority of women whose mothers took DES don’t get cervical cancer. But you’re still at higher risk for cervical cancer if your mother took DES while pregnant with you.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF CERVICAL CANCER?

Common symptoms of cervical cancer include:

1) Vaginal discharge. You may have a watery or unusual discharge.

2) Abnormal va**nal bleeding. Your may have bleeding between your periods or after s*x. Blood flow during your period may be heavier and last longer than usual. Or you may have bleeding after menopause.

3) Pain. You may have pain during s*x or pain in the pelvic area not from s*x or other activities.
The most disturbing thing about Cervical cancer is that the symptoms does present itself until it is advance.
Unlike the breast that you can easily feel the lump and get it removed, cervical cancer can only be diagnosed when you go for a screening. Don't be caught unawares, go for a screening to day.
You can book for a screening session. Discount for Group screening available.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR INTIMATE AREA
Within a few minutes you will learn how to care for your intimate zone/area and learn how to prevent infection and promote intimate comfort

Ingredients matter
Because your intimate zone is delicate, it’s important to select cleansers containing ingredients that harmonize with the female body’s exact needs. Soaps with strong fragrances or va**nal deodorants can cause irritation.

All things in moderation
There really is such a thing as being too clean! Whether or not you realize it, your body is engaged in a constant balancing act, responding to even the smallest changes in your routine. Moderation is therefore a necessary factor in good hygiene. Excessive exposure to soap products – including bubble bath – could lead to infections, dryness, and discomfort.

Don’t wash with water alone
Water has a cleansing effect but does not protect the natural balance of the intimate zone. Compare it to the rest of your skin – you wouldn’t cleanse, nurture, and protect it with just water, would you?

Watch out with regular soap
Regular soaps are often alkaline, and have a pH higher than the natural pH of the intimate zone. Therefore, soaps can disrupt your natural balance by decreasing your natural protection. Making you more vulnerable to problems and irritations. Feminelle is soap-free and have an adapted pH.

Use the bathroom after s*x
Urinating before and after s*x helps to prevent urinary tract infections, which can occur when germs in the va**na are pushed into the urethra during s*x. Also, be sure to wash your hands before and after s*x to help prevent the spread of bacteria.

Strengthen your pelvic floor
Strengthening your pelvic floor muscles is essential to a lifetime of good intimate health – not to mention the perks of more exhilarating s*x and better bladder control!

Visit your gynAecologist regularly
If you’re 18 or older, you should consult your gynaecologist regularly to check for infections, abnormalities, and cervical cancer. It’s not the most pleasant appointment on the calendar, but in reality it’s relatively quick and painless, and the health benefits are worth it.

Wash your towels regularly and use a clean washcloth
Use only your own towel and wash it regularly. Washcloths are breeding grounds for bacteria, so use a clean one with every wash.

Change your tampons or pads regularly during menstruation
Blood has an alkaline pH, which can affect the natural acidity of the va**na. This makes your intimate zone more vulnerable to imbalance during menstruation. Change your tampons or pads regularly and use the lowest absorbency that works for you. Using protection with an overly high absorbency can create friction or dryness.

Wear cotton underwear and change it daily
Lacy, synthetic thongs and panties can be very s*xy, but they can also cause chafing and irritation. Try to wear cotton underwear as much as possible or choose s*xy panties with a cotton crotch.

Give your body room to breathe
Wearing tight clothing or materials that don’t breathe, such as polyester, can create a hot, moist environment that can cause chafing and irritate your v***a. To avoid irritation or infection, wear loose, permeable clothing made of natural materials like cotton whenever possible.

Wash your intimate zone daily with a balanced intimate care product
Your intimate zone is one of the most sensitive places on your body. Since the va**na keeps its own delicate pH balance, which naturally keeps it clean, there is no need to wash internally (i.e. douching). Keep washing external and use products like Feminelle which are designed for intimate use and respect your body’s own mechanisms.

Listen to your body
Pay attention to signs that something is off. Contact your doctor if you have any concerns regarding your intimate well-being. Remember that each body is different – an activity, product, piece of clothing, or s*xual position that is just fine for one woman may create problems for another.

Understanding pH and lactic acid
The va**na has a natural protective layer that acts as a defense mechanism against pathogens and infection. This protective layer is acidic in nature, which means that the va**nal pH fluctuates between 3.8 to 4.5.
A low pH creates balance between good and bad bacteria
Lactobacilli are some of the main bacteria responsible for maintaining a healthy va**nal flora. Their production of lactic acid contributes to a healthy acidity of the va**nal environment.
A natural acidity is important, because bacteria that cause diseases don’t grow well and can’t reproduce easily in an acidic environment.

The skin is a vital organ that covers the entire outside of the body, forming a protective barrier against pathogens and injuries from the environment. The skin is the body's largest organ; covering the entire outside of the body, it is about 2 mm thick and weighs approximately six pounds.
The color, thickness and texture of skin vary over the body. There are two general types of skin; thin and hairy, which is more prevalent on the body, and thick and hairless, which is found on parts of the body that are used heavily and endure a large amount of friction, like the palms of the hands or the soles of the feet.
Basically, the skin is comprised of two layers that cover a third fatty layer. These three layers differ in function, thickness, and strength. The outer layer is called the epidermis; it is a tough protective layer that contains the melanin-producing melanocytes. The second layer (located under the epidermis) is called the dermis; it contains nerve endings, sweat glands, oil glands, and hair follicles. Under these two skin layers is a fatty layer of subcutaneous tissue, known as the subcutis or hypodermis.

Functions of the Skin
1) It shields the body against heat, light, injury, and infection.
2) The skin also helps regulate body temperature.
3) It gathers sensory information from the environment thereby preventing injury to internal organs.
4) The skin stores water, fat, and vitamin D
5) It plays a role in the immune system protecting us from disease.
So why do you think we should not take good care of our skin?
