A Nigerian man's account of a family WhatsApp drama has gone viral, leaving social media users divided.
According to him, his cousin had gone to their family WhatsApp group to seek financial assistance, explaining that life had become difficult because his wife had been unable to run her business for a while due to health challenges.
Shortly after, one of their uncles living in the United States—known in the family for always lending a helping hand—joined the conversation. Instead of offering support, he criticized the cousin for being irresponsible before removing him from the group.
Wanting to understand what led to such a harsh reaction, the man contacted his cousin privately.
His cousin revealed that the uncle had only asked what was wrong with his wife and whether she was receiving treatment. He responded that she wasn't ill but was pregnant.
The response reportedly changed everything.
The man said he was left speechless after discovering that his cousin, who is already finding it difficult to make ends meet as an electrician, was expecting his fifth child.
His post has since sparked intense conversations online, with many weighing in on family planning, personal responsibility, and whether the uncle's decision was justified.

Content creator Peller has left many social media users laughing after revealing that he jokingly told his wife he would love for them to have a wedding every year. According to him, his wife quickly shut down the idea, explaining that weddings are a one-time event and that only wedding anniversaries can be celebrated yearly.
Not ready to let go of the idea, Peller jokingly asked if people buy aso ebi for wedding anniversaries because he would love to continue selling aso ebi.
For their recently concluded wedding, the aso ebi was reportedly sold in three categories: ₦350,000 for 4 yards, ₦700,000 for 8 yards, and ₦1,000,000 for 12 yards. With more than 500 guests in attendance, many online have joked that it's no surprise Peller wants to relive the experience every year.
