Pray for me, gbadura fun mi, pray I find my way, k'ori ba mi se........ "Pray for me" by . The essence of the song is the importance of a parent's prayer.
I've anchored events where the parents of either of the couple come in late and the couple or some family members come to tell me to start working without the parents, something I usually decline politely, telling them the importance of the parents at such events.
This reminds me of a groom who told me to start the event in the absence of his parents-in-law, his reason, they were running late and he didn't want to get to church late (this was a one-day event). His point: he would rather miss the parents blessing than get late to church, because the church is very time conscious.
My darling Araloge couple, the most important part of a wedding process is when your parents pray for you, you can't trade your parents blessing for anything in this world. Do not let the church wedding, (which is another man's traditional wedding) take the place of your own traditional wedding.
You can always get your pastor's blessing any time, you can even walk into your pastor's office with a few family members and get blessed, without the normal paparrazi attached to the "white wedding".
Please note that Ajoke Araloge isn't against the church wedding(I love weddings). I just need you all to know that your parents blessing is number one and vital.

In the Yoruba tradition, an engagement ceremony is not complete without letters.
A letter is written by the intending groom's family (Proposal letter) usually, by the head of the family or the representative, stating their son's intentions for the bride.
The reply is given by the intending bride's family (Acceptance letter), informing the groom's family that, they have accepted that both of them be joined as husband and wife.
In the olden days, these letters were exchanged long before the wedding date is fixed, so as to know whether or not the family wants their daughter to be a part of the groom's family, after underground investigations have been made by both families.
Nowadays, things have changed. The proposal letter is read on the wedding day by the bride's younger sibling or relative, after lots of dancing and spraying of money as well as an envelope for the reader, tagged "Owo Letter Kika" (Money for Letter Reading) has been given to the reader.
