6 reasons why you don't have radiant beautiful skin
wondering why you don't have great skin, here is why. there are 6 basics of skin care; Cleansing, toning, moisturizing, exfoliating/ using a mask and getting enough sleep.....
Below are more tips for great skin.
1. Never hit the bed with your make up on. If you do so the make up will get in to your facial skin pores and may close them, which will eventually mess up your skin. You need to wash your face twice at night, once to get rid of the make up and the second one to clean your face.
2. Make sure you exfoliate every day. You need to do this after washing your face at night. Use a scrub that is soft on your skin. Sugar or oatmeal can be used as a scrub as well.
3. Regular use or even daily use of facial masks is good for your skin. You need not buy it always. You can make one on your own using mashed fruits or vegetables like banana, avocado etc. One of the best natural mask is plain yogurt.
4. Apply some skin treatment or moisturizer always on your face, either day or night. Give importance to your skin and apply some skin treatment, once you wash it at night.
Never go for the costliest or cheapest cosmetic products. Products in the medium range are known to give the best results. Those products have quality ingredients and they usually deliver great results also.
The only way to find the right product for you is by doing the good old “Trial and Error” method. Keep on experimenting with different brand products until you find the right product for you. Be gentle on your face. Pulling, tugging, scrubbing etc. on your face is not advisable.
Never treat your face roughly while cleaning it, moisturizing it or applying make up on it. Thus you can reduce the possible number of wrinkles or skin damage on your face.
5. Drinking a lot of water and eating fresh food is good for your skin. Do not eat dead food; that is food which is not really fresh. Eating a lot of vegetables, nuts and drinking lot of water will increase the shine on your skin.
6. Try to stay relaxed always. Even the best cared for skin will show your level of stress on your face. You have to indulge in some thing which is your passion, be it shopping or going for a walk. Outside world can read what is in your mind from your face. Do not compromise on sleep. It is so important you sleep deeply for at least six hours daily. This is the best therapy for good skin. You may use the best products in the world, if you are short on sleep, the stress will tell on your skin.

Healthy Snacks: Cashew Nuts (1)
Losing weight is a major problem for most women especially because our Nigerian Diet has a high Calorie Content and most people consume large portion sizes. So, in the coming days, we would be examining how we can make our food work for us despite these challenges.
Now, for most of us, snacking between meals is a common thing....which is not bad but because for some of us, this is the time we consume our sugar cravings making this a harmful habit.
However.....do not despair.....all you need to do is substitute that cake, candy, puff-puff ,chin-chin for nuts like cashew nut.
Why Cashew Nut?
>>>>>>>>>Lowers Risk of Weight Gain....The fear that eating nuts would make you gain weight is groundless. As studies have shown that "Frequent nut consumption was associated with a reduced risk of weight gain (5 kg or more) when combined with a low calorie diet.
>>>>>>>>Great for your heart...... Cashew nut have a lower fat content than most other nuts, approximately 82% of their fat is unsaturated fatty acids, plus about 66% of this unsaturated fatty acid content are heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, similar to those found in olive oil. Its also has high anti-Oxidant levels
>>>>>>>>>Rich in Copper and Magnesium......which helps in a wide range of physiological processes including iron utilization, elimination of free radicals, development of bone and connective tissue, and the production of the skin and hair pigment called melanin.
Magnesium, by balancing calcium, helps regulate nerve and muscle tone. Studies have also shown magnesium helps reduce the frequency of migraine attacks, lowers blood pressure, helps prevent heart attacks, promotes normal sleep patterns in women suffering from menopausal sleep disturbances, and reduces the severity of asthma.
So you have it......next time you visit that store or market, be sure to buy some cashew nut and you can just chew them between meals or add them to your cereals for breakfast or to even your garri for people who like to drink garri.
Just because you want to loose weight does not mean you should not look forward to enjoying your meal......the key is to burn more than you consume.......so if you dont burn much either eat less or try a more active life
Live is short, be sure to live it to the fullest........be fruitful as always

Why you need to detox this Holiday Season
The Christmas season for most people is the best time of the year. However, it’s also a time when people accumulate lots of harmful toxins from increased refined sugar intakes from soft drinks/wines, the hamper which contains mostly products high in processed sugars, too much starchy food and red meat intake from lots of owambes and visiting friends /relatives.
Let’s not forget the too much coffee; we take to help with the harmattan or just the stress of living in a city like Lagos, the diet pills we have to take to look good in our bikini ready for all the beach parties, the harmful body creams or lotions, the increased fumes we may inhale due to bad traffic that the season brings……………the list is endless.
Detoxification refers to removing toxins from your body or cleansing your body of pollutants and chemicals. It is also a good way to lose weight. Fruit is detoxifying and you can eat as much of it as you want. You will lose a lot of weight if you cut down on other nutrition and replace them by fruit.
Eating fruit and vegetables on a regular basis helps your body detoxify itself. The best way of doing this is not to eat anything but fruit until noon. Till that time your body is still busy detoxifying from the night before. Now you know why people always drink freshly squeezed orange- or grapefruit juice in the morning.
The strongest detoxifying effect is caused by the acid fruits especially (red) grapefruit and lemons. Citrus fruits are all acid fruit but also tomatoes and pineapples are acid fruits.
What to do……………….Squeeze 3 oranges, two mandarins and half a red grapefruit for breakfast. But remember its best on an empty stomach (just order these fruits from fruitful and pay on delivery).
Other Detoxification Strategies
• Adequate sleep: Your liver and other internal organs detox during the night. Studies have emerged that your brain also detoxes while you sleep. Make sure you avoid staying up late so you can get that deep sleep which usually occurs by 12-1am. Also try to wake up early to empty your bowels when you have bowel movement to prevent your body from re-absolving these toxins
• Exercise: Any form will do, whether weight training, running, or a favorite sport. Moving your body and sweating is crucial for your overall health and an effective means of detoxing.
• Proper Hydration: enough water and other fluids throughout the day is important. I like to drink 2 glasses of water after my morning jog to ensure I’m hydrated to start the day, and help usher out any toxins my internal organs “cleaned up” that night.
Doing the above regularly will help reduce the toxins in your body, however, there are still more ways to detoxify……from consuming certain fruits and vegetables especially by making a smoothie out of them. You could select a handful and try experimenting with them
Lemons and Limes, Watermelon, Ginger, Green Tea, Avocado, Cranberries, Apples, Yogurt (use plain yogurt, flavored yogurts have a lot of added sugar), Pineapple, Greens, Garlic and lemongrass.
If you decide to detox, remember to stay away from any alcohol, caffeinated Beverages, Sweets, Candies, Chocolates and fizzy drinks, avoid over eating. Be fruitful……….have a pleasant Weekend

Natural Anti-ageing Formular
As much as we hate it, as we grow older our skin also ages. Wrinkles and age spots are the result of gradual, accumulated damage from the sun, strong soaps, chemicals and poor nutrition. However, if we follow a strict meal regime like the one below, we could slow down and even reverse this process naturally.
1. Eat your five-a-day
Apple
Why you need it: An apple a day can certainly keep ageing skin at bay! This fruit has vitamin C in abundance which keeps your skin firm and gives it an inner radiance. Apple also prevents free-radical damage which causes premature skin ageing.
How to use it: To ensure glowing skin, you can eat one apple every day. You can also apply the juice of an apple (not pacakaged) on your face and wash it off with water after 10 minutes
Carrot
Carrot is high in beta carotene which is converted by the body to vitamin A. This makes it a must-eat vegetable in your daily diet. Not only will it give your skin a glow, it will also fight wrinkles and improve your skin, making it healthy.
How to use it: You can add carrots to your salad or cook it to your meals. Drinking carrot juice with its fibre intact is also a great way to boost your beauty.
Lemon
Your skin tends to look dull when it has scars, acne and blackheads. But lemons can keep these at bay. This fruit has high content of vitamin C which is needed for the synthesis of collagen.
How to use it: Squeeze a lemon in a glass of warm water and have it first thing in the morning. You can add a spoonful of honey also in the mixture. Or, simple add a dash of lemon juice on your salad
Strawberry
Why you need it: The presence of malic acid in strawberry makes it a natural whitening agent. It also has loads of antioxidants which lend your skin a healthy radiance from within.
How to use it: Eat a handful of strawberries or simple mash it to make a paste and add yoghurt and honey. Apply it on your face and in 15 minutes get glowing skin. Strawberry can also be added to your smoothie.
Tomato
Your skin needs a boost from within to look fresh and glowing. Tomato is rich in an antioxidant called lycopene which has anti-ageing properties and also acts a sunscreen from within. Since tomato is acidic in nature, its pulp helps tighten pores and prevent pimples.
How to use it: Add them to your meals but be sure not to overcook them, you can eat them raw as well or apply its pulp and juice on your skin
2. Cut out crash diets
Repeatedly losing and regaining weight can take its toll on your skin, causing sagging, wrinkles and stretch marks. Crash diets are often short in essential vitamins too. Over long periods of time this type of dieting will reflect on your skin.
3. Don’t forget Vitamin E
Vitamin E protects skin from oxidative (cell) damage and supports healthy skin growth. Foods high in vitamin E include almonds, avocado, hazelnuts, pine nuts and sunflower and corn oils.
4. Drink 6-8 glasses of water per day
Skin needs moisture to stay flexible. Even mild dehydration will cause your skin to look dry, tired and slightly grey. Although, all fluids count towards your daily allowance, water is the best. If you work in an office, keep a large bottle of water on your desk to remind you to drink. Herbal, caffeine-free teas are good too. Try to avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, both can age the skin.
5. Don't be afraid of fat
Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats - the types found in avocados, fish, nuts and seeds - provide essential fatty acids which act as a natural moisturiser for your skin, keeping it supple. These fats also come packaged with a healthy dose of vitamin E (a vitamin many of us lack), which will help protect against free radical damage.
6. Opt for omega-3
Make sure you get enough omega-3 and omega-6 fats. These are essential fatty acids which mean they cannot be made in the body and must be obtained through the diet. You will find omega-3s in oily fish and plant sources such as Cashew, Peanuts & Walnuts. Omega-3 fats encourage the body to produce anti-inflammatory compounds, which can help skin, particularly inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis
7. Go for low-GI carbs
Eat plenty of beans, pulses, porridge and other slow-releasing carbohydrates. These release sugar into the blood stream gradually, providing you with a steady supply of energy and leaving you feeling satisfied for longer and therefore less likely to snack. Avoid high GI carbohydrates like biscuits and sugary drinks, as they lead to production of insulin, which may damage collagen and accelerate wrinkles.
8. Don't forget zinc
Zinc is involved in the normal functioning of the sebaceous glands in the skin (which produce oil) and helps to repair skin damage and keep skin soft and supple. Zinc-rich foods include fish, lean red meat, wholegrains, poultry, nuts, seeds and shellfish

How to look fab this Holidays
A With the Holiday season a month away, I know we have so many outings planned……the beach, that engagement party etc. and we want to look so good. Here is how you can without compromising your health and spending too much. Based on a recent study, eating five portions of fruits and veggies a day is a great way to lose weight and live a disease-free life.
Fruits are high in fibre, contain natural sugars and help keep hunger pangs at bay. One portion of fruit is defined as 80g of fruit so one medium-sized apple would constitute one portion
So by combining five portions of any of these fruits everyday with the right meal and portion size, will do the trick. Here are 10 fruits you should consider every day and remember you can order a basket of these fruits for a week supply, just click on the call button above to order. If you like our content, please like our page and share with your friends too.
1) Watermelon

4) Banana
I know you might say it’s fattening but check this out-Packing 105 calories, per piece, the average banana is an excellent source of instant energy and the perfect post-workout food. They’re also healthier than energy drinks or low sugar/fat product masquerading as ‘healthy’ options. It also helps beat muscle cramps, keeps your BP in check, prevents acidity and even beats constipation. If you can also try consuming the peel which according to recent study contain more nutrients, fibre and antioxidant, be sure to boil wash thoroughly to remove pesticide and boil for 10mins after which you can blend it with other fruits.
5) Pear
The pear fulfils one quarter of your daily fibre requirement and is great for your digestive system. It also helps reduce cholesterol levels, reduces the risk of coronary heart diseases and type II diabetes. The fibre content keeps you satiated for longer than normal and the fruit also packs a mean punch thanks to the fact that it’s rich in Vitamin C.
6) Oranges

7) Tomatoes
Yeah, tomatoes are fruits not vegetables and they’re a Godsend for your weight loss battle. They’re delicious, full of antioxidants and reduce water retention.
