What is syphilis infection

This is a bacterial infection caused by a bacterium called "Treponema Pallidum" which usually spread by Sexual contact. It usually starts as a painless sore.

Modes of Transmission
1. Blood transfusion or organ donations
2. Direct contact with infected persons during oral, a**l or vaginal s*x.
3. During pregnancy through the placenta.

Stages and symptoms of syphilis
* Primary syphilis : 2 to 12 weeks after exposure to someone with syphilis.
Symptoms
Smooth or hard sore called a "chancre" which develops on the ge***al or mouth.

* Secondary syphilis : About 1 to 6 months after the syphilis sore goes away, a rough, bumpy syphilis rash appears. The rash can cover your entire body including your palms, and soles of your feet.
Symptoms
Fever, fatigue, wart-like sores, muscle aches, weight loss, headaches, hair loss, swollen lymph nodes.

* Latent syphilis : If the syphilis is not treated in the first two stages, the infection moves into the latent stage. At this stage, the infection can damage the heart, bones, nerves and organs. This stage can last up to 20 years.

*late(tertiary) syphilis : This stage occurs slowly and it can lead to brain damage, dementia, and cognitive health problems, heart disease, movement disorders and muscle problems, nerve damage, seizures, vision problems including blindness etc.

Treatment
Antibiotics (specifically penicillin)

Life style drug
Play safe s*x
Always go for screening from time to time
The earlier the better

What is hepatitis B virus

Hepatitis B is a serious liver infection caused by the hepatitis B virus that is easily preventable by a vaccine.
This disease is commonly spread by exposure to infected bodily fluids.

Modes of transmission
1. Blood contact with an infected person
2. Saliva ( kissing)
3. Vaginal fluids and semen( Sexual in*******se)
4. From an infected mother to a baby( breastfeeding)
5. Sharing of sharp objects with an infected person
6. Use of unsterilized clipper

Symptoms
* Abdominal pains
* Fatigue, loss of appetite /malaise
* Web of Swollen blood vessels in the skin/yellow skin and eyes.
* Also dark urine
Some people particularly children don't experience any symptoms. In chronic cases, liver failure, cancer or scarring can occur.

Treatment
Antiviral drugs such as
* Entecavir (Baraclude)
* Tenofovir (viread)
* Lamivudine (Epivir)
* Adefovir (Hepsera)
* TLD (Tenofovir Lamivudine dolutegravir)

Life style drugs
Avoid alcohol
Eat 2hours before bed time
