If you are sewing your wig without knowing where your tracks should go, we need to talk.

I see beginners pick up their needle and thread and just start sewing.

One track here...

Another one there...

Then they keep going until the hair finishes.

But wig making is not supposed to be like that.

Before you start sewing, you should have an idea of ,how you're going to construct that particular wig.

Where will the hair start?

How will you arrange the tracks?

How much space should be between them?

How will you move around the different parts of the wig?

And how do you make sure you are getting the shape you want?

Because the way you arrange your tracks can affect the final look of the wig.

You don't want to finish sewing and then realise:

“Ah! Something is not looking right.”

That's why I tell my students:

Don't just sew. Understand what you're doing.

The needle and thread are only tools.

Your understanding is what makes you a wig maker.

And this is one of the things we work on practically inside Prystesia Beauty Academy

I want you to understand the process, practise it yourself and know why you're doing each step.

When you're making a wig, do you plan your track placement first or do you just start sewing and figure it out as you go?

You can have the right canvas and the right wig cap… and still construct the wig wrongly.

One thing beginners don't always pay attention to is how the wig cap sits on the canvas.

Some people just put the cap on anyhow and start sewing.

As long as the cap is on the head, they're ready to go.

But please, don't rush.

How you place your cap matters.

Remember, this is the foundation you're going to build your wig on.

So if the foundation is not properly positioned, you may start having problems as you continue.

And sometimes, you won't even notice the problem immediately.

You'll sew the hair.

You'll finish the wig.

Then when you try it on, you're wondering:

“Why is this wig sitting like this?”

This is why I always tell my students:

Don't rush to start sewing.

Take your time to prepare your foundation properly.

Look at your canvas.

Look at your cap.

Check your measurements.

Make sure everything is sitting the way it should before you start constructing.

Because in wig making, the little things you do at the beginning can affect the final result.

I won’t lie, seeing this billboard made me pause for a minute.

Because I remember when I was just trying to get people to notice my work.

You post your work.

Nobody comments.

You put up a flyer.

Nobody calls.

You teach someone a skill and you’re wondering, “Will people actually take me seriously?”

But you keep going.

One client becomes another.
One student becomes another.
You keep learning.
You keep improving.
You keep showing up.

And somehow, the same business you were once worried about is now sitting on a big billboard.

That’s one thing I’ve learnt from this journey:

You don’t always see the result immediately.

Sometimes, you’re just doing the small things every day until one day you look back and realize, “Wow… I’ve actually come far.”

And honestly, this is also why I love teaching wigging.

Because I know what learning a skill can do for someone.

You can start because you just want to learn how to make your own wigs.

Then you realize you can make wigs for other people.

Then someone pays you.

Then you start getting customers.

Then one day, you have your own small beauty business.

That’s the kind of journey I want my students to experience too.
