Wig-It Nigeria

Hello fellow facebookers. Today I am issuing a public statement concerning the empowerment of women in Rivers State through wig making.
I am the founder of Wig-It Nigeria; a startup that trains women into professional wig makers and recycles old wornout hair extensions into brand new wigs. We launched the first digital wigmaking school in Nigeria in September 2023 and in April 2025 we launched our Software HairCoin; a platform that enables women trade in their used wigs for raw cash and purchase luxury recycled wigs. Thus far, we have trained over 300 women in 7 different states into Professional wigmakers and sold over 15,000 units of recycled wigs. The global wig market is worth over 6 Billion Dollars and is estimated to be worth double that in 2032 and 12% of Nigeria’s general populace use wigs. The challenge now is that most of the professional wig makers we have trained lack the capital to setup their own workspace and our goal at Wig-It Nigeria is to setup a well-equipped wigmaking workspace in every city in Nigeria where these women can work and earn a living starting with my own state Rivers State.
With the launch of HairCoin we strive to become the digital voice of wigmakers in Nigeria and setup a global community of women that earn from, use and distribute recycled wigs.
I met with the previous Deputy Governor of Rivers State Ipalibo Harry-Banigo in 2022 and she pledged to work with me to empower more women into professional wigmakers.
I recently reached out to her in order to begin to implement this and set up wig recycling centers in major cities in Rivers state mainly Port Harcourt, Bonny and at least 2 others. All efforts to see her thus far have been futile and I want to use this medium to bring this to her notice. It is time to empower the women of Rivers State and she should live up to her pledge and promise and do the needful.
