GODLY LOVE

God is not a man, He is God. The way God judges and sees things are different from the way man does. According to the scriptures, before Jesus Christ came into this world where we mortal live, there was nobody that was righteous according to God's standard, Romans 3:9--18. Humanly speaking, there could have been many good people around then, but before God, even their good deeds or self righteousness were like filthy rags in His sight, Isaiah 64:6, the reason for this, according to Jesus, is that, A BAD TREE CAN NOT PRODUCE GOOD FRUIT, Matthew 7:18. Every man--like a tree--has become marred or made bad by Adam's one sin that have been imputed into man, Romans 5:12--19. Adam's one sin has made man into becoming slaves of sin, Romans 6:17--18, and dwelling in the land of darkness, Luke 1:78--79. But thank God for sending us a Redeemer, in the person of Jesus Christ, the scriptures say anyone who believes in Jesus has become a son of God, John 1:12--13, and also translated out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of God's dear Son, Colossians 1:12--14. According to the scriptures, we have relationship with Jesus when we have His message of the Good News in our hearts, John 15:4--7, 8:31. It is the Good News that sanctifies a believer, John 17:17, Ephesians 5:26, and changes his life;

4)For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all of God's people,
5)Which come from your confident hope of what God has reserved for you in heaven. You have had this expectation ever since you first heard the truth of the Good News.
6)This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, JUST AS IT CHANGED YOUR LIVES FROM THE DAY YOU FIRST HEARD AND UNDERSTOOD THE TRUTH ABOUT GOD'S WONDERFUL GRACE." Colossians 1:4--6.

The love in a believer's heart that gives him the confidence that he is a citizen of heaven, and which is also the same love that God wants every believer to feel for others, comes from the Holy Spirit, who is God's seal of ownership upon every believer, Ephesians 1:13, and whom they received when they believed the Good News;

"And this expectation will not disappoint us. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love." Romans 5:5. NLT.

When Apostle Paul learnt that some of the Colossians have believed the Good News, he knew immediately that those Colossians Christians have love for all of God's people in their hearts. This is because he knew that when a person believes in Jesus he is given the Holy Spirit, Ephesians 1:13, Galatians 3:2, who fills his heart with God's love. This infilling of God's love is seen to be manifesting in the believer's life when he goes about doing good, living in love for others, and living a morally decent life so as not to grieve the Holy Spirit in him--Holy Spirit who is helping him to live a godly live, and who is also his guarantee that he will be saved on the day when Jesus shall return in glory, Ephesians 4:30. The changes seen in the life of the believer is the work of God going on in his heart. Apostle John also got this revelation when he taught that the person who loves God's children is that same person whom has shown his love for God by believing in Jesus Christ, 1 John 5:1--3, 3: 23--24. The Holy Spirit whom the believer received when he believed the Good News empowers him to have genuine love for God and other people.

The preachers of the Good News don't spend much time telling the believers about how not to touch this, and not to handle that, Colossians 2:20--23, but they spend most of their time teaching the believers the Word of God, which overtime will transform them into living an overcoming Christian life, and also making them into becoming more and more like Christ, 2 Corinthians 3:18. The Holy Spirit works in a believer by transforming him from the inside. The Holy Spirit in the believer is constantly reminding the believer that he is a son of God, Romans 8:16, an action that helps the believer to remain on the right track in his relationship with God. Unlike the way of the law which works on the outside of a man, leaving the person's hearts unchanged, Colossians 2:21--23. It is only God who can transform a person's heart by the power of His Holy Spirit.

A believer whose heart is filled with love from the Holy Spirit is very confident that he will one day receive all the wonderful things that God has kept for him in heaven. His confidence comes from his understanding and believing the Word of God that anyone who believe in Jesus has eternal life, John 3:16, and has become a beloved child of God, John 1:12--13.

Finally, the Scriptures made us to understand that the only ministry that will never end is ministry of showing the love that comes from the Holy Spirit in the heart of a believer, 1 Corinthians 13:7--10. God wants to give His Holy Spirit to everyone who desires Him, so that their hearts could be filled with Godly love, and so that they could be able to live the holy life that God desires. Because of what happened at Calvary, God can only see good fruit in the lives of those who have made their tree good by believing in Jesus Christ, Psalm 32:1--2, Hebrews 8:10--12. So if you are out there and wants God to fill your heart with His love, then all you have to do is believe in your heart and confess with your mouth saying according to Romans 10:8--9, "Lord Jesus, I believe that you are the Son of God and the Savior of the world. I believe that you came into this world to die for all our sins. I believe that God raised you from the dead. Thank you my Lord and Savior for saving me."
