Spasmodic dysphonia is a cripling neurological voice disorder. The brain sends a distorted signal to the vocal chord muscles which causes them to spasm. The vocal chords close all at one, or stay fully open causing a "choked" voice called adductor spasmodic dysphonia or a breathy voice called abductor spasmodic dysphonia.
