My perfect Saturday kicks off with a proper bike ride, preferably in good company. And Saturday has my preference over Sunday, as my favourite place for a coffee stop is closed on Sunday.

This favourite place is a bakery. And the relationship with this place goes back for a generation. My father is one of their recurring customers since 1981! I remember that as a little boy I came along with my father. We bought bread for a whole week. Besides we bought four pastries. The latter we enjoyed with my parents and older brother on Saturday as we watched some favourite television shows together.

I remember that this bakery was incredibly tiny. Three customers was pretty much the maximum. And in winter, moisture dripped down the windows as the result of the contrast between the cold outside and the warmth of the bakery was big. But the smell of freshly baked bread was incredibly good.

My father still visits this place weekly, for almost 40 years. Still on Saturdays. And when I make my usual coffee stop here, we regularly meet.

Trough the years this bakery is extended and renovated a few times. Nowadays this bakery is a real shop. All kinds of goods are displayed perfectly and there are some spots to sit down, relax and drink coffee. For me, no doubt, this is the ultimate place for a coffee stop. The selection of good snacks is overwhelming, but my favourite one is an almond one. And in addition, the coffee is great and I need to mention that the staff is incredibly friendly.
