Lefty Zennings & the Black Stone Riders

For Lefty Zennings, it started with the records of Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Billy Joe Shaver - songs with stories, rough edges, and a mind of their own. After years of playing bass in various bands, it was time to give that love for outlaw country a voice of its own. Now Lefty steps forward as a frontman, backed by The Black Stone Riders - a collective of seasoned musicians who earned their stripes in well-known Dutch rock and roots bands. The core lineup features guitarist Daan Janzing, drummer Mike Coolen, and bassist Patrick de Kok, joined by pedal-steel virtuoso David Gram and vocalist Collette Vermast, whose warm harmonies complete the sound. Recently, the band locked themselves into Audioworkx Studio to re-record a handful of their favorite country classics from the 1970s. The first recordings will be released after the summer of 2026. If you listen closely, you might already recognize Lefty’s voice from No Mercy and Black Stone by June Sixteen, available on YouTube and all major streaming platforms. Where the road leads from here, time will tell. But the direction is clear. Raised to keep the country spirit alive.
