Subcision is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat acne scars, particularly those that are depressed, such as ice pick and boxcar scars. During the treatment, a specialized needle is inserted beneath the skin to break up the fibrous bands connecting the scar tissue to the underlying tissue.
The snapping of fibrotic scars tissues is what makes the sounds !
This technique helps to release the tension, allowing the skin to elevate and fill in the scar over time. Following subcision, patients often experience some swelling and bruising, but these effects typically subside within a few days. Multiple sessions may be required for optimal results, and subcision can be combined with other treatments like fillers or laser therapy to enhance overall skin texture and appearance.
The procedure is done in local anesthesia.
