I thought about going dancing yesterday evening, but once I got home from work, staying in sounded a lot more appealing than going out. And it’s not because of laziness or lack of energy. I thought to myself: there are more aligned ways to use my time that would allow me to harness my energy in support of my future self.

This inner knowing or a pull to rest isn’t random. We are nature, and as part of it, we ebb and flow with its natural rhythms.

Ayurveda teaches us that the outside environment directly influences what happens internally in our bodies. The seasons affect us more subtly than we could imagine. For example, as the temperature drops, we switch from our light summer clothes to warm winter garments. We heat our houses, but we hardly alter other areas of our lives. What we consume and the activities we engage in affect us more than we think. One simple thing we could do is replace cold raw food with warm cooked meals. They are easier to digest and support the «agni» within our body. Agni is the ayurvedic representation of the fire element, which controls our body temperature and also transforms our food into nutrients. Strong «agni» is a sign of health and vitality. During the fall, our agni weakens naturally as the body adapts to the shifting environment. Supporting it rather than working against it is the least we can do.

When the days grow shorter, nature releases a part of itself to die as it prepares for rest and hibernation before blooming again in spring. Similarly, autumn is the season when we crave more time to rest and sleep. Nature calls us to slow down, to turn inward, be more reflective, and indulge in quiet moments.

As Thich Nhat Hanh taught us: «Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the world earth revolves.» This is an invitation to make every small act sacred. Prepare warm tea mindfully, practice walking meditation among fallen leaves, light a candle at dusk, and sit in stillness. Start a practice where each evening, you would write down what you’re releasing and what you’re grateful for, honoring both the letting go and the receiving that autumn teaches us.

"We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are."

🌟This quote from Anaïs Nin’s novel, The Seduction of the Minotaur, illustrates how our perception of reality is filtered through our experiences, beliefs, emotions, and mindset, rather than being an objective view of the world.

If we are having a bad day, for example, everything we encounter that day will be seen through that lens. Something that in reality is neutral or even positive may be seen as negative.

🔺🔻Same place, two different angles. Just like these two images I took in Tollbugata last year.

🪞How do we clear our lens, so that we have more clear and accurate perspective on things?

🧘‍♀Meditation, inner work and spending time in nature are my three go-to ways.

✨ Perspective can change everything. When we shift how we see the world, the world shifts with us.

Welcome to a place where creative expression meets wellness!

Through yoga, meditation, Ayurveda, and creative expression, I help others rediscover clarity and inspiration — and I’d be honored to support your journey too.

“People can only meet you as deeply as they’ve met themselves.”

No amount of books or education replaces the power of inner work.

Inner work means looking inward instead of filling the void with distractions. It’s about noticing your thoughts, emotions, and patterns — and choosing growth. 🌱

When we take responsibility for our inner world, everything outside begins to shift. Boundaries get clearer, relationships get healthier, and life feels more aligned.

✨ Curious about how to reprogram self-limiting beliefs and manifest what you truly want?

That’s exactly what we explore in Yoga Nidra — a practice I guide weekly at (Tuesdays) and soon at (Mondays).
Online sessions coming soon!

👉 Save this as a reminder: Your external reality starts with your inner work.

Yin or Restorative
Two of the most misconceived styles of yoga!

Do you know the difference between them?

Both of these passive yoga styles offer us rest and introspection but there are fundamental differences between the intention behind their practices. And a good Yin or Restorative yoga teacher would and should know them.

As someone holding an education in both styles I can not help but notice that some teachers teach Yin and Restorative practices as the same thing, which is a common misconception that also confuses our students. As Tamika Caston-Miller says "It’s imperative for yoga teachers to name practices correctly so that students can reliably receive what they seek. And it’s equally relevant that students understand the difference between the two approaches so you can offer your body what it needs when it’s asking for it."

Restorative Yoga is the supportive use of props that facilitate resting in deep ease for long periods of time. We hold up every aspect of the body in an attempt to relieve tension. Props fill in the negative space under our body so that it may rest in alignment. In a typical 1hour class teachers guide their students through 2-4 poses in which they are invited to experience a quality of Savasana in each pose. There are so few poses in a Restorative Yoga class because the intention is to allow the students to marinate in them, blissfully, for 10-20 minutes. If a pose does not feel blissful you are invited to rest in any other shape until the next pose. Restorative practice encourages a complete letting go of effort as well as any thoughts and the concept of time.

Yin yoga is rooted in the principles of traditional chinese medicine where everything is related back to the five elements in nature: fire, water, earth, wood, and metal. Each element corresponds to a different season, and each season influences a different organ.
Yin yoga asks us to enter each pose considering three principles: to take ourself to an appropriate edge, to stay still there, and to hold the stillness for a period of time. In a Yin practice the participants are guided to put stress on their joints and leverage gravity.

Did you know some foods digest well together while others do not? 🍅🧀

gives a great metaphor about this in her first book. "Imagine putting these people in a room together: an ambitious high achiever, a laid-back pacifist, a quiet daydreamer, a determined activist, and an unflinching pessimist. They may all be great people, but we can't assemble them and expect quiet conversations.
🌱It's the same with food. Every food is good for something, but sometimes eating two good foods together may result in them fighting in your stomach."

And in the end, you are the one who suffers.

🌱When combining foods, we should consider the following factors: climate, season, portion, foods incompatible with one's work, mixing very cold with very hot foods, and method of preparation.

According to Ayurveda, these food combinations create "ama" a Sanskrit word that means “unripe” or “undigested,” which refers to the toxic byproducts of incomplete digestion. Ama is the result of poor digestion when the body fails to fully metabolize food. But food is not the only thing that can create toxic buildup in our bodies. Our undigested emotions can too.
When Ama accumulates in the body and mind, it creates mild imbalances at first. If we continue with our habits and lifestyle that caused those mild imbalances, they turn into challenges, which then lead to the development of diseases if not addressed.

"Drinking bird", also known as "Diver's pose," is an asana I often incorporate in my Backbend-focused flows. If you've practiced with me, chances are I've made you balance on the balls of your feet.

🌟 This beautiful asana is not just a physical challenge; it’s a journey of self-discovery and mental clarity.

🌈✨ Benefits
Drinking bird enhances your posture, balance, and coordination. With every gentle stretch, you are not only strengthening your core and legs but also loosening those tight hamstrings, calves, and the entire back body, promoting flexibility and potentially relieving tension in these areas.

🚫❤️‍🩹 Contradictions:
It's best to stay away from this asana if you have any of the following:

▫Lower back pain - it puts a lot of strain on the area

▫Knee pain - same as #1

▫Shoulder pain - we use our arms to balance, which overworks the shoulders

▫Neck pain - we look down, which can be demanding for the neck

▫Headaches - DB can cause a sudden increase in blood flow to the head, which can trigger headaches in some people

▫Pregnancy - forward folds are typically modified when pregnant, and we should avoid this one altogether.

🙌 Try drinking bird at home or wherever you practice and feel the energy flow through you as you connect your body with your mind, fostering a sense of harmony within.

Every time we step onto our mats, we embark on a journey that invites us to explore the depths of our being. 🌟

I’ve mentioned this a number of times and it never gets old - yoga is not just about the physical postures; it’s a beautiful pathway to self-discovery and personal growth.🌱 Each practice offers us a chance to turn inward, cultivating awareness and fostering a deeper connection with ourselves.

🤸‍♂ As we flow through our asanas, we tap into our emotions, thoughts, and even our fears. It’s in these moments of stillness and movement that we unlock profound insights about who we are.

Have you noticed how certain poses challenge you, not just physically but mentally and emotionally as well? And because we feel challenged some of us tend to avoid them, while others do exactly the opposite - always go for the highest expression of a pose. Have you ever asked yourself why? Why do I always choose this or that?

Embracing these challenges can lead to a greater understanding of your strengths, vulnerabilities as well as our patterns. 🌈

Take a moment to reflect on your journey. What does yoga mean to you? How has your practice shaped your perception of yourself? 💖
