This elixir is dedicated to the legendary love between Psyche and Eros, which resulted in the birth of their daughter, Hedoné: goddess of pleasure. A single scent can be associated with this myth: musk. In the heart of Fleur de Peau, it will be delicate, soft and velvety. Highlighted with iris and ambrette seeds, they reveal its full tactile dimension.

Right off the bat, this warm, oud-y, unisex fragrance felt like home. All it took was one spritz, and I let out a big, “yes” before peppering my decolletage with two more sprays. Its name suggests intensity, but I feel otherwise, in the best way. The scent lingers but sinks into the skin in a way that makes it feel like it was always part of you, and it has none of the sharp bite that many men’s colognes project. It’s soft, lush, and vanilla-like—it would be just as intoxicating on men as it is on women, and for that reason, it earned the top spot on my list.

Founded in 2013 by Sam W Martin, named after his Grandad passed away from Prostate Cancer in 1987, he loved all things vintage which is carried through in his product design. Apothecary-87 are setting the standard with its beard care, hair styling, and shaving products around the world.

Amazingly for such a strongly-branded fragrance, No. 5 is a scent that can smell radically different from one woman to another. A highly complex blend of aldehydes and florals - including rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine, lily of the valley and iris - layered over a warm, woody base of vetiver, sandalwood, vanilla, amber and patchouli - this perfume satisfies Chanel's request that No. 5 smell like a "composition" rather than any single flower. However well-blended, though, No. 5 can react in surprising ways when exposed to body chemistry. One woman may love Chanel No. 5 for its powdery florals and fresh soap smell, while another is wrinkling her nose at its harsh chemical and musk tang.
