Winter on the water? Absolutely. 🌊
For many of us winter doesn't mean packing away the wetsuit. From surfing and wing foiling to windsurfing and kitesurfing, plenty of our water sports enthusiasts are out enjoying the conditions all year round.
These sports demand a lot from the body, particularly the shoulders, neck, back, hips and knees. Repetitive movements, falls, lifting equipment and long sessions on the water can all contribute to aches, pains and overuse injuries.
Whether you're dealing with a niggling shoulder, recovering from a strain, or simply wanting to stay active and performing at your best, physiotherapy can help keep you moving and doing the activities you love.
If pain is keeping you off the water this winter, don't ignore it. Early assessment and treatment can often prevent a small issue from becoming a bigger one.

Winter sport season is well underway and with regular trainings, games, muddy fields and weekend recovery, many people start to notice tightness, soreness and fatigue building up in the body.
Sports massage may help support recovery, reduce muscle tension, improve movement, and keep your body feeling ready for the next training session or game.
Whether you’re playing rugby, football, hockey, netball, or simply staying active through winter, massage can be a helpful part of managing training load and looking after your body during the season.
Appointments are available with our neuromuscular massage therapist, Nicki.

Lower back pain is one of the most common issues we see and it can affect everything from work and sleep to everyday movement.
It can come on suddenly after lifting or bending, or build up over time due to posture, workload, or activity levels.
At Northwest Physio+, we assess what’s contributing to your pain and tailor treatment to support your recovery. This may include hands-on therapy, movement advice, and a plan to help you return to normal activity safely.
Alongside physiotherapy, acupuncture and massage may also be used to help manage pain and reduce muscle tension.
If your back isn’t settling or is starting to impact your day-to-day life, it’s worth getting it checked.
