The importance of the skin barrier, is VITAL when it comes to clearing your skin and keeping it clear long term. What I love about the inside out approach is that we can achieve a healthy barrier topically using the right key nutrients and building blocks, and interacting using diet, lifestyle and supplementation to achieve a robust skin barrier. We only get one skin, however our skin cell cycle only lasts 28 days (on average) so there is so much improvement we are able to make in even a short amount of time. Please feel free to DM me with your questions. 💕💕

One of the main lab tests that I am most interested in when treating hormonal acne is Progesterone.🕵️‍♂️ Both high and low levels of progesterone can lead to breakouts and it’s my job to put all the pieces together to figure out what is going on for you. ❤️

Did you know that many of us experience anxiety or stress without even knowing it? Living such busy and productive lives we often can miss signs from our body that are trying to tell us to slow down or that we are not coping. 😬😩🥺😫

Are you constantly striving for perfection? Do you find yourself biting your nails or experiencing tension in your shoulders? These seemingly unrelated habits could be signs of underlying anxiety that often go unnoticed.

Meticulous Habits and Needing Things Just So:

If you find yourself obsessing over details and needing everything to be in perfect order, it could be a sign of anxiety. This need for control is often a subconscious attempt to reduce feelings of uncertainty and anxiety. Recognizing this pattern is the first step towards finding healthier ways to manage your emotions.

2. Nail Biting and Body Tension

Nail biting is a common habit among individuals dealing with anxiety. It serves as a release for nervous energy and can even become a compulsive behavior. Additionally, anxiety can manifest in physical symptoms like sore or stiff shoulders. These physical manifestations are often a result of prolonged muscle tension caused by anxiety.

3. Headaches and Procrastination

Persistent headaches can be a sign of underlying stress and anxiety. The pressure and tension in your head can stem from unresolved emotional issues. Similarly, procrastination is often a coping mechanism used to avoid confronting stressful situations, leading to increased anxiety levels.

4. Decision Paralysis

Are you often overwhelmed by even the simplest decisions? Indecisiveness can be a result of anxiety. The fear of making the wrong choice and potential consequences can immobilize individuals, preventing them from moving forward.

If you resonate with any of these signs, don't worry; you're not alone. There are steps you can take to alleviate these feelings and reduce your reliance on these habits, booking in with a qualified naturopath or other qualified health professional is a great start to address the root cause of the anxiety and find treatment options that are sustainable for your lifestyle.

Tools of the trade 💆🏻‍♀️

Some of my favourite tools to use in clinic and at home on myself are my rose quartz Gua Sha, facial rollers and facial cups. 😍

🖤 Gua sha aside from feeling AMAZING promotes circulation and blood flow to the face bringing oxygen and essential nutrients to the facial skin cells to enhance wound healing, inflammation and increase cell turnover leading to glowy plump skin. Gua sha is also amazing for lymphatic drainage reducing puffiness, under eye bags and improves skin tone and texture.

🖤 Facial rollers effortlessly glide across the skin stimulating lymph drainage and detoxification. Facial rollers improve product absorption meaning you are getting more $ out of your skin care products that you would with application alone.

🖤 Facial Cupping has been used for centuries in Chinese medicine and stimulates lymph drainage by boosting blood circulation, eliminating stagnant fluids and oxygenating the skin. Facial cupping can reduce inflammation and eliminate acne as it oxygenates cells, and acne cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Cupping also rejuvenates complexion as it stimulates collagen production, and can reverse fine lines, wrinkles and fullness.

Do we want a demonstration video? Let me know! 💕

🖤 Facialist Milestone! 💆🏻‍♀️ I am officially certified in the Sculptural Buccal technique™ .

The facial is a cult favourite among celebrities including Kate Moss, Megan Markle, and Kiera Knightly and for good reason. The technique is one of my all time favourite holistic facial treatments combining osteopathy, craniosacral therapy, acupressure points, and lymphatic drainage techniques.

The buccal facial will leave you noticeably lifted and sculpted as your jawline and cheekbones are manipulated and chiseled giving a facelift effect, completely naturally.

We begin by sculpting the outside of your face, and finish inside the mouth (YES you read that correctly) to iron out any lines and tension, releasing jaw pain and TMJ pain in a way you’ve never experienced before.

The ultimate in relaxation with seriously functional benefits both visibly and internally. The results accumulate over time as your face muscles build strength and conditioning.

Along with the Skinography team, I am now one of the few facialists worldwide trained in this highly specific functional facial technique.

I cannot wait to sculpt your faces!

F xx

P.S. is offering 20% off 60 or 90 min Buccal Facials for all of March. 🖤

Do you know what could be triggering your acne? As naturopaths we are very concerned with getting to the root cause or the driver of the condition, rather than just focusing on treating the symptoms. We aim to treat the cause. Here are some of the most common triggers for adult acne, however this list is not exhaustive as so many environmental and internal factors can be responsible. It’s best to work with a practitioner to find out what’s going on for you. Working with a professional will always be a much better approach in the long run to save you time and money. X

Acne is the worst. There’s no question about it. Over 85% of people will experience acne at some point in their life. But what’s worse is when your acne finally clears up and you are left with scars! Trust me I know first hand how frustrating this can be. Here are my top tips for improving texture, pigmentation, and visibility of acne scars:

💖 Dermapen microneedling is hands-down my favorite, and the most effective treatment for improving the texture, colour and visible appearance of acne scarring due to its ability to promote new collagen and skin cell growth.

🍊Topical Vitamin C improves pigmentation (dark spots or red or purple marks) from post-inflammatory acne - especially if it was picked at!

☀️ Sunscreen - apply every day - sun damage worsens scarring and can set in post inflammatory pigmentation - think putting a stained shirt in the dryer before getting the stain out ☠️

🧴Topical Vitamin A - aka retinol - increases cellular turnover, helps reduce scarring, and promotes collagen growth. Vitamin A is also your best protection topically against future acne breakouts.

💜 Niacinamide (topical vitamin B3) is known for its ability to fade discoloration and hyperpigmentation post-inflammatory acne - also a great prevention for future breakouts.
