Most lifters chase height on front raises, swinging past parallel and losing the delts to momentum. Rambod shows why that's the wrong target entirely.
The movement is for the front head of the delts, using a rope. Go up to parallel with the ground — no higher — so the front delts hit a full isometric contraction right at the top. Cables are what make this work: unlike dumbbells, they hold constant tension through the entire range, which means more time under tension. And that's what actually drives growth.
Height doesn't build the delt. Tension does.

In this clip, CBum asks the question most lifters never think to: does explosive, athletic work — jumps, isometric holds, three-second contractions — contribute to hypertrophy?
The short answer: not directly. Hypertrophy is driven by mechanical tension taken to a proximity-to-failure point, the kind of stimulus CBum was hitting earlier in the phase with 40–60 second time under tension sets. A 10-second isometric or a plyometric jump doesn't create that same tension-to-failure environment.
But here's what it does do — and why it matters. Explosive and isometric work trains your nervous system to recruit fast-twitch fibres more efficiently. Those high-threshold fibres carry the greatest growth potential of any tissue in the muscle. By spending three weeks teaching the body to recruit and fire them under force, CBum didn't sacrifice gains — he primed the exact fibres that respond hardest to hypertrophy training.
So when he transitions into a dedicated growth phase, the payoff compounds: better neuromuscular recruitment going in means more realised hypertrophy coming out. That's the entire logic behind periodised, phase-based programming — each block sets up the next.
Most lifters chase the pump every session and wonder why progress stalls. The strongest physiques are built in sequenced phases, not random ones.

Look closer at this list — it's not random.
Squats, hack squats, leg press and pendulum squats load the quads through deep knee flexion. RDLs and good mornings hit the hamstrings through the hip hinge, where they're strongest. Leg curls isolate knee flexion. Extensions isolate the quads under constant tension. Lunges and split squats add unilateral loading most lifters skip entirely.
That's every function of the lower body trained — knee extension, knee flexion, hip extension, single-leg stability.
If your leg day is just squats and leg press, you're leaving half your growth pathways untouched.
