Muscle is denser than fat, which means it takes up less space in the body.
So, two people can weigh the same on a scale but have very different body shapes, health profiles, and fitness levels depending on how much lean muscle versus fat they carry.
This is why scales only tell part of the story. The number you see doesn’t differentiate between muscle, fat, water, or bone. For example, someone who starts strength training might see their weight stay the same or even increase slightly - while they’re actually losing fat and gaining muscle.
