Venice

We had booked a hot air balloon ride for the morning before leaving for Venice, however the weather saw it canceled 😭 The trip from Florence to Venice was extremely wet, there was flooding in fields all along the way. Thankfully the morning saw a brighter sky and by the afternoon it was gorgeous. We got a water taxi out to Murano and did a tour through the glass factory. After which they tried to put the hard sell on us.... nothing under 1000 euros! There wasn't enough time to get to Burano so we headed back and walked around Piazza San Marco. We missed high tide but there was still evidence of flooding around the square, and shops with wet floors 😳 After we did an obligatory gondola ride, we found a lovely roof top bar for an aperitif (or two) then out for dinner which we had to sell a kidney for 😂

It's been such a whirlwind trip, we really needed more time at each stop, but I'm going to be so happy to sleep in my own bed!!

Florence

Had a lovely day walking about Florence. Went to the accademia Gallery to see Michaelangelos works and statue of David, looked through the leather markets and just strolled through the side alleys and squares. Saw "the other" David at the Piazza Della Signoria.

Off the boat and on a train to Florence 😁

We got off the train and checked into a fab hotel, right in the centre of town, which was walking distance to all the main attractions. We crossed the Ponte Vecchio, then wandered around the streets soaking up the atmosphere. The weather was somewhat dodgey and we ended up soaked. Still unwell we called it a day and rested in our hotel after a late pizza lunch in the Piazza Della Repubblica
