Life is so wild and so precious.

Get to know what truly brings you joy and go out of your way to engage, play, experience, notice, or feel that as often as you can.

Life can be equal parts heartbreaking and equal parts beautiful, all at the very same time.

We must pay attention to the tiny moments of joy and revel in them in real time.
For in the end, they will be the biggest moments of them all - the ones we noticed, and actively participated in.

Take photos of people and things you love, memories you can keep forever.

Collect memories and make beautiful ones on purpose.

Tell the people you love that you do in fact love them so much (again and again and again).

Friends are the best.
Collect them too. Honour them. Cheer for them. Cry with them. Laugh with them. Lots.

When you hug someone you love, add a little squeeze. It says so much more than words ever can.

Never, and I repeat, never forget how to play.

The serious stuff isn’t always as serious as you think it is at the time.

Sometimes living is more important than worrying.

Sometimes we have to let our hearts speak louder than our heads.

Try not to hesitate so much on your dreams, on getting it perfect, doing it right, saying it right. Lead with good intentions and just do it. Go for it.

There is no perfect way of doing anything. We’re all just out here living life for the very first time and trying our very best.

Find a way to express gratitude, joy, and beauty in every single day, the good days, but especially the hard days.

What matters most is that we are ourselves.
That we love in a way that is wild and unruly, but deeply honest.
And that we allow ourselves to be loved in the same way.

11 years ago, I had my 4th hip surgery
(the right one - look at her go 😅).

The 4th surgery was the juiciest one.
No weight bearing for 2 months.
No “walking for exercise” for 6 months.

A complex surgery that needed time to heal and integrate, after using a part of my IT band to perform a “labral reconstruction”.

NOT to be confused with a “labia reconstruction” like it once was at a VERY awkward dinner party one time.. 😅

This time required a total rebuild.. and I’m not just talking about my 🍑 or my body.

In this wild and wondrous human experience we’re all having, I’ve learned that nurturing what’s in our head and in our heart is every bit as important as nurturing our body.

There will be times when we feel so much is out of our control.

Head and heart. Go here first.

And when the body is able,
move.
As often as you can.
In ways that feel good.
Not just because you think you “should”.

Today’s Glow class (🧘‍♀️) was built around the theme of moving with gratitude for these bodies we are living in.

An invitation to celebrate all the things that feel amazing, and strong - to focus on what we can do and not what we can’t.

That right there got me through some big times.

Today’s class was a reminder to care for our bodies and hold them with grace and tenderness..

Because even when things aren’t going to plan..
it’s just their first time living too, and they are trying their very best. 🩷

Just like you are.

For the beautiful humans in class with me who have been moving with me for 11+ years,
you were there with me when I was struggling to walk,
and praying for the day I could move with you again..

And now here we are… wiggle wiggle.
I’m so grateful for the way you cheered for me, every bit as loudly as I like to cheer for you.

Every day stronger, together 🩷

We all have our own “why” when it comes to movement.
For me, it’s simply the sheer joy of being ABLE to move my body.

It’s never lost on me how wondrous it is to have hips that can now wiggle, and stretch, and lunge, and climb mountains, pain free.

Here’s to climbing mountains.
And if you’re still building up to that, don’t forget to wiggle 😉😘

Do you know what intrigues me about the neuroscience of joy?

The brain often leaves clues.

Research on nostalgia shows that revisiting meaningful, happy memories, stories, music, places and experiences from childhood can light up emotional pathways connected to safety, wonder, belonging and joy.

Which makes me wonder…

What if some of the things we loved most as children weren’t childish at all?

What if they were medicine?
What if they are medicine now?

What brought you joy as a child?
Maybe there are clues here.

What lit you up before the world got so big?

When I ask these question, the answers are nearly always beautiful and simple.

Reading.
Swimming.
Playing outside.
Dancing.
Painting.
Climbing trees.
Making things.
Playing with my animals.
Being in nature.
Getting lost in make-believe worlds.

This week, a beautiful client told me that of all the things she has explored in her wellness plan this week, her favourite has been swapping out her phone at bed for books in bed. And remembering how beautiful it is to READ 🥹

Maybe joy isn’t always found in becoming more productive, more disciplined or more grown up.

Maybe sometimes joy is found in returning.

To wonder.
To play.
To imagination.
To the parts of ourselves that felt most alive before the wild of the world had us accidentally turning some of the most joyous things in life things to tick off our to-do list.

Maybe it’s time to start a “to-be” list.

And when you do,
Make sure to jot down…

“Happy”. 🥹🩷

FORTY FIVE PIECES OF WISDOM 🙌
FROM THE FIRST 45yrs OF MY LIFE 💫

Here we go...

🌻 Find and chase YOUR happy

💜 With every single obstacle we can also find an opportunity

🌻Shine YOUR colours

💜 Being of service to others is one of the most fulfilling parts of life

🌻 There is ALWAYS something to smile about

💜 Never pass by an opportunity to hug somebody

🌻 Complimenting others is one of the easiest ways to change someone’s day

💜 Speak up for those who don’t have a voice

🌻 Love with your whole heart and nothing less

💜 Take the time to consider a response rather than react on the spot

🌻 If someone tries to hurt you with their words, the root of the hurt is inside them. Be kind, but also gently make them aware of their actions

💜 You are the master creator of your own happiness

🌻 Planning a date with friends is as tricky as trying to pull your own tooth out, will probably fail 7 times before it succeeds, but is ALWAYS worth the wait

💜 Embrace mistakes, for without them we would not get better

🌻 Saying ‘no’ is a bit like an acquired taste; the more often it’s practised, the easier it becomes, and the more aware you become of what you do or don’t need in your life

💜 All the people who come through your life are there for a reason, a season or a lifetime. They all have purpose. They all contribute to your life. They are all important.

🌻 You’ll know the people who are in your life for a lifetime the moment you meet them

💜 Find your own style, with everything. Those who love you will never diss you for your style

🌻 Chronological age definitely does not have to mirror or match physiological age, and we have more control over physiological age than we give ourselves credit for

💜 Falling into bed at the end of the day is almost as good as an or**sm. In fact, the term ‘bedgasm’ was coined as a result of this experience

🌻 A true friendship is known by the simple fact you can pick up from where you left off with no awkwardness and no questions

💜 Not everyone will like you, and that’s a powerful thing. Speaking to YOUR people will make you happier and will get you further

🌻The display of a soul can and will dictate the level of love and admiration you have for someone

💜 Embrace the flesh of someone’s soul - for to be free to be raw and wild is the foundation of a good life

🌻 Mornings are better if you go to bed happy

💜 There’s no place like home, and there’s also no place like your lovers arms or your kids embrace

🌻 When people offer their help and support, they mean it, so don’t be shy in accepting it

💜You can disagree with someone and still love them

🌻 ‘We don’t stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing.’ HELL YEAH.

💜 Apologies can be hard, but are also incredibly freeing

🌻 ‘To be’ lists are more effective than ‘to do’ lists. Focus on who you want to be today, not on what you need to do

💜Be the energy you want others to feel

🌻Your intuition knows, your gut knows, your heart knows. They all know more than your mind when it comes to what is best for you

💜 Scorched Almonds will ALWAYS taste like the best thing on Earth

🌻 The only thing better than Christmas as a kid, is Christmas WITH kids (be they your own or ones of loved others)

💜 When you have the mentality that everything gets better with age, everything DOES get better with age

🌻 You can be wild and crazy at any age - and should

💜 If you don’t ask the answer is ‘no’ anyway

🌻 With each new year, the truest depths of the most foundational parts of our existence - love, s*x, conversation, understanding, relationships, our soul - grow in exponential amounts

💜 Divine timing is something we don’t appreciate enough. Things happen when they do for a reason - and often that reason is for our own personal growth and understanding

🌻 Make your first morning thoughts a prayer, a gratitude, or an affirmation. And your day WILL be better

💜 The most simple pleasures in life remain the most pure of pleasures forever

🌻 The more love we feel inside us, and the more loving thoughts we have, the more love we’ll find around us too. There is no emotion, no feeling, stronger than love

💜 We are both the engineers and architects of our own realities, and the realities we choose to see are created by our mind

🌻 Stopping to take Seven deep breaths, taken through the nose, will always lessen the overwhelm and rush of life.

Your daily thoughts and actions are constantly training your brain. 🧠

And at the same time, your brain is attaching meaning to your thoughts and actions..

The question is, what are you training your brain for?

There was a time I spent months at home recovering from surgery, and to cheer myself up, I started a silly little ritual - dabbing a splash of pink blush on my cheeks.

The colour made me smile, and lifted my spirits.
I would tell myself I was splashing joy on my face.
And it would make me feel happier. Brighter.

Now, my brain goes looking for a splash of blush when it needs some cheering up.

I know it sounds trivial.
But your brain is highly malleable.
Continuously capable of growth, and the ability to form new beliefs.

And if it’s as simple as adding one tiny daily ritual that you repeat often, to experience this life with more joy, why not?

Shout out to the beautiful nurse who helped me with my blush that night.

At the time I had no idea what I was doing, but my brain did.

What are you attaching meaning to?
Good or bad?

And how could you nudge your brain to look for whatever your blush is?

Loved this Mums & Teens event with .beauty
It was the “Ascend” I had with me that night 🩷

Did you know that keeping promises to yourself is a powerful way to activate DOPAMINE in your body and brain? 🧠

Keeping promises to yourself changes your brain.
It changes you.

Every act of follow-through is followed by a dopamine reward rush.

Every act of doing what you promised yourself you would do builds self-trust, confidence and momentum for more of what matters.

My promise to myself is that I’ll wear my white t-shirt all day without getting it dirty 🤣🫠

Ok, let’s be honest, I’ll never be able to keep that promise 🫠 - but in all seriousness, right now I’m promising my body I’ll keep loving her and looking after her just the very best I can 🩷

Simple, but necessary.

I’m promising myself more “yin” moments..

Slower moments.
Less rushing.
More breathing.
More presence.
Longer hugs.
Moments and actions of thoughtful intention.
A splash of yoga/Pilates Glow, daily ✨
More appointments with joy and FUN! On purpose.

Is there something you’ve been quietly promising yourself for a while now that you haven’t feel all the way ready to action/ continue/ nurture?

I’d love to hear about them so we can go all in together 🩷

Maybe this weekend is the weekend.
To go all in and follow through on that promise.

Try it, and just wait!

That “do it again, do it again” dopamine effect is intoxicating xx

With love, Niki xo
