What actually makes toilet paper feel soft?

We recently received an email enquiry asking us if we use softening agents. And that was a great question to ask as it was not a topic we had covered in our FAQ - but it is now.

Softness is the key selling point for many brands but softness is often achieved by chemical additives.

For us, softness comes from the bamboo fibre itself, combined with the creping process during manufacturing where the paper is cut, creating micro-folds that lend to higher perceived softness.

Soft, white tissue has become the standard in so many homes, but that softness has often come with bleaching processes and chemical shortcuts most people never see.

When we developed EcoRoll, it was important that the texture and quality could stand up to what people are used to without relying on commonplace chlorine bleaching.

EcoRoll is whitened using a Totally Chlorine Free (TCF) process, where hydrogen peroxide is used instead of chlorine-based bleaching agents. It’s considered one of the most environmentally preferable bleaching methods available for tissue.
