Children and Skincare: A Clarification Based on Biology and Best Practice
The recent trend of marketing skincare products to children has created confusion among parents and professionals. It is important to provide clear, evidence-based information about what children actually need for healthy skin.
From a biological and dermatological perspective, children do not require multi-step routines, active ingredients, sheet masks, serums, or “starter kits.” Their skin is naturally resilient and already functioning at an optimal level.
Key facts about children’s skin physiology:
The skin barrier in healthy children is typically well-developed.
Cellular turnover is naturally efficient.
Hydration levels are generally high.
Collagen levels are abundant.
There is no clinical need for brightening, resurfacing, exfoliating, or firming products.
Appropriate skincare for children is simple:
A gentle cleanser
A basic moisturiser only if dryness is present
Daily sunscreen
This aligns with current evidence-based recommendations. Anything beyond this is unnecessary.
It is also important to note that many child-focused skincare trends are driven by marketing rather than genuine skin health needs. Introducing beauty routines or adult-focused terminology at a young age can place unnecessary emphasis on appearance.
If a child is experiencing skin concerns, the correct course of action is a professional skin assessment rather than consumer skincare routines. Healthy children do not require elaborate skincare regimens.
In summary:
Children’s skin needs are minimal.
Safety does not automatically equate to necessity.
Evidence-based guidelines support simple, functional care until puberty.
Children benefit most from protection, simplicity, and an environment free from unnecessary beauty pressure.

Seed Oils & Acne: What Every Parent Should Know
What Are Seed Oils?
Seed oils are common cooking oils made from seeds like:
Soybean
Sunflower
Corn
Canola (rapeseed)
Grapeseed
They’re in most processed foods—like chips, cookies, takeaways, salad dressings, and many packaged snacks. These oils are cheap to make and have a long shelf life, which is why they’re used so often in the food industry.
How Do Seed Oils Affect Acne?
Acne is more than just clogged pores—it’s inflammation in the skin. Seed oils can make this worse in a few ways:
1. They Increase Inflammation
Seed oils are very high in omega-6 fats. A small amount of omega-6 is good for us—but when we have too much (and not enough omega-3, like from fish), it can cause inflammation inside the body.
And inflammation makes acne worse. It’s like constantly throwing fuel on a small skin fire.
2. They Change the Skin’s Natural Oils
When kids eat a lot of seed oils, it can change the oil their skin produces. This can make the oil:
Stickier (more likely to clog pores)
Easier to oxidize (which leads to angry, red pimples)
3. They Affect Hormones
Seed oils are often found in ultra-processed foods—the same foods that spike insulin and IGF-1, two hormones linked to more oil production and skin breakouts, especially in teenagers.
Real-Life Examples of Where Seed Oils Are Found
French fries and fried chicken (often fried in canola or soybean oil)
Supermarket baked goods (like muffins and pastries)
Snack foods (corn chips, crackers)
Ready-made sauces and dressings
Some non-dairy milks (like oat milk with added sunflower oil)
What Can You Do as a Parent?
1. Reduce Processed Foods
Start reading labels. Look for and reduce foods that list:
Soybean oil
Canola oil
Corn oil
“Vegetable oil” (this usually means seed oils)
2. Cook With Skin-Friendly Fats
Use stable, natural fats at home, like:
Olive oil
Butter or ghee
Coconut oil
These don’t inflame the skin and are much better for overall health.
3. Balance with Omega-3s
Try to get more omega-3 fats into your teen’s diet. These come from:
Salmon or sardines
Flaxseeds and chia seeds
Walnuts
Omega-3 supplements (if needed)
These healthy fats help calm inflammation and may help reduce acne from the inside out.
A Final Note for Parents
If your child is struggling with acne, skincare is important—but what’s going on inside their body plays a huge role too. Supporting their skin with the right diet, including cutting back on seed oils, can reduce inflammation and support clearer, calmer skin over time.
You don’t have to be perfect—just making better everyday choices can help your child’s skin and their overall health.
The "Sandpaper Skin" Secret
Ever feel like your skin is rough, leathery, or just won't stay hydrated no matter what you do? 🤔 It's easy to blame dehydration or lack of exfoliation, but what if something deeper is at play?
Introducing glycation, a hidden biochemical process that can make your skin feel like sandpaper. It’s a key factor in how your lifestyle and diet directly impact your skin’s texture and resilience.
Ready to understand the root cause of stubborn skin concerns? Stay tuned for more on this "sweet" subject! 😉

Next-gen anti-glycation interventions!
**Why Does My Skin Feel Rough Like Sandpaper?**
Do you ever notice your skin feels rough or bumpy — almost like sandpaper — even after moisturizing or exfoliating? Many people assume this means they’re dehydrated or just need a scrub, but sometimes the real reason lies much deeper in the skin.
As we age (often from our mid-30s onwards), natural changes inside the body begin to show up on our skin. One of the most important — yet least talked about — processes is glycation.
Glycation happens when sugar molecules in the bloodstream attach to your skin’s collagen and elastin. Over time, this makes those supportive proteins stiff and brittle. Instead of keeping your skin smooth and springy, they harden, leading to:
Rough or leathery skin texture.
Fine lines that appear earlier than expected.
A dull or yellow undertone.
Skin that feels less elastic and resilient.
And stress doesn’t help — when cortisol (your stress hormone) is high, it pushes more sugar into the blood, speeding up this process.
How to Smooth & Protect Your Skin
The good news? With the right treatments and skincare, you can fight back against sugar-aging.
In-clinic treatments may include:
Gentle resurfacing to smooth texture.
Light therapy to calm skin stress.
Barrier-focused facials to restore strength and hydration.
Skincare ingredients to look for:
Carnosine → protects collagen from sugar damage.
Antioxidants → Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Resveratrol.
Barrier supporters → Ceramides, Fatty Acids, Cholesterol.
Peptides → rebuild firmness and elasticity.
Hydrators → Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin, Beta-Glucan.
The Bottom Line
If your skin feels rough and nothing seems to help, it may not just be “dry skin.” Sugar and stress inside your body could be silently changing your collagen and skin texture.
That’s why I recommend a professional skin analysis. let s identify the signs of glycation and tailor a treatment plan that restores smoothness, bounce, and glow.
✨ Book your consultation today and discover whether sugar-aging could be the hidden cause of your rough texture.

What Masks Really Do to Your Skin
Wearing a mask doesn’t just leave faint indentations on your cheeks—it disrupts your skin on a much deeper level.
Underneath the mask, trapped warmth, humidity, and friction create the perfect storm. Your skin’s delicate microbiome shifts: protective bacteria are suppressed, while acne-causing bacteria and yeast flourish. The visible result? Breakouts, redness, irritation, and that stubborn, bumpy texture.
But the impact doesn’t stop there. Constant mask use weakens your barrier, strips hydration, and fuels inflammation. In short, your skin is under daily stress, fighting an uphill battle every time you wear a mask.
How Our Overnight Recovery Mask Resets Your Skin
Think of our Overnight Recovery Mask as a nightly reset button—working while you sleep to undo mask-related stress.
✨ Rebalances the microbiome → Supports healthy bacteria while keeping congestion- and inflammation-causing microbes in check.
✨ Restores barrier strength → Locks in hydration and reinforces your skin’s natural defenses against friction and humidity.
✨ Soothes irritation → Reduces redness and calms inflammation signals for a more comfortable complexion.
✨ Accelerates overnight repair → Works in sync with your skin’s circadian rhythm, amplifying repair and renewal.
Wake up to skin that feels clearer, calmer, and stronger—like your microbiome just found its balance again.
👉 Masks may be necessary, but the skin damage they cause doesn’t have to be permanent. Let your skin recover each night while you rest.
