Eco therapy is a holistic approach considering nutrition and environmental factors, as well as using mindfulness, counselling and eco-psychology principles to reconnect people with themselves, others and the natural world they are part of. We have evolved to be in intimate relationship with nature. We sense a deep connection a
nd feel at peace in natural environments. Decades of psychological and medical research has shown that our bodies react instinctively to natural environments, decreasing stress hormones as soon as we enter them, healing quicker from surgery or injuries just from the mere sight of a natural environment. Yet, we spend most of our time in man made environments, expecting our bodies and minds to work perfectly under circumstances they were not evolved to cope with. Eco Therapy acknowledges our deep connection with nature, and the fact that we are inseparable from it. Taking into account the latest research from the health sciences and quantum physics, Eco Therapy seeks to incorporate nature into the healing process. Spending time in nature helps us to reconnect with our inner world as we become aware of our interconnectivity, allowing for greater perspective and self reflection. Understanding your place in the natural world enables you to make sense of, and create meaning from, the emotional and psychological difficulties you are experiencing and discover your purpose in life. Therapy sessions ideally take place outdoors in a local reserve, park, beach or garden. Sessions are also still offered indoors for those who would prefer, with a wonderful view of nature to look at.
