Watch the transformation unfold. 🤍 Applied here to our Vulcan timber, Protector™ - White initially allows the rich, heat tempered brown tones of the wood to shine through. As the timber is exposed to the elements, the white pigment gracefully comes to the forefront, embracing the natural weathering process to create a beautiful, lasting finish.

The legends at the Men’s Shed have been busy 🔨
They’ve just finished hand-crafting 200 pest traps for our forestry partners Kaingaroa Tipu in the Bay of Plenty, NZ. Made from Abodo Vulcan® offcuts, these traps will be placed throughout the managed Kaingaroa forests, including native regeneration projects and the Whaka Wetlands.
By donating these traps, we’re helping keep these areas pest-free so biodiversity can flourish and support New Zealand’s incredible wildlife and native species 🌿

This month, we celebrate a monumental milestone: Anna, our Export Document Officer, has now been with Abodo for 20 incredible years! 🎉
Anna - thank you for two decades of unwavering loyalty and commitment to Abodo, for your famously calm approach, and for continuing to corral those export orders like a pro!
Abodo Vulcan Cladding in Protector - Nero was an obvious choice for this project, both for its beauty and its durability.
The dark finish creates black gabled forms that are almost shadow-like behind the treeline that wraps the foreshore. When viewed from the lake, the home is disguised, but the material details start to reveal themselves as you approach.
As designer Braeden Scally puts it: “I’m a big believer that buildings should get better the closer you get.”
The dark Abodo Vulcan Cladding, Alabama blue rubble, and full glass windows provide a great contrast that blends seamlessly into the lakeside landscape.

The award-winning Cardrona Cabin near Queenstown was designed as a showcase for Abodo®. Built in the often harsh and changeable alpine climate of New Zealand’s Central Otago region, our goal was to highlight the durability and incredibly high performance of our New Growth Feature Timbers™.
Shown here at five years on, that’s exactly what we found, with the cabin demonstrating the strength and beauty of an alternative to ancient old growth timbers.
