The Wuhan Yangtze river swimming festival was just incredible. Our two ChCh athletes represented our city with two outstanding swims in the elite 1800m challenge. With water temp at 28 degrees, outside temp of 38 degrees and a current of 1.28m/s this swimming is incredibly hard to complete.

My name is Tina George, and I am Student completing a master’s degree in sport and exercise science with a final research project this semester at the University of Canterbury. As a mature student I have a particular interest in understanding how different types of exercise may or may not help alleviate the symptoms of perimenopause in middle aged women.
This study focuses on the Aotearoa New Zealand population and aims to investigate how wāhine maintain exercise habits through the perimenopausal stage of life. If your business/sport club/activity group could kindly share my Qualtrics questionnaire with your members, I would be very grateful.

The online Questionnaire takes 15 – 20 minutes and is preceded with information and an informed consent form approved by the University of Canterbury ethics committee. Taking part is completely voluntary, and involvement in this project will be completing two online questionnaires that include questions about physical activity and menopause-related symptoms. Each questionnaire consists of an Adapted Greene Climacteric Scale (A-GCS) and an Adapted Global Physical Questionnaire (A-GPAQ). Responses will be recorded anonymously through a secure online survey platform.

Who can participate? Women who are between the age of 45- 55 years of age on the 1st of January 2026, and people who were assigned female at birth. If you have any diagnosed complex or chronic medical conditions listed below, please do not continue filling out the questionnaires. breast cancer, endometrial cancer, recent malignancy, cardiovascular disease, thromboembolic disorders diabetes.

Here in beautiful Myoko Akakura Kanko resort meeting these amazing women sharing their lives as survivors of breat cancer. We had a great time talking about women's health, exercise, of course snowboarding and the importance of sharing all things about breast cancer and health. They are hosting a raffle day to fundraise here in Japan.

We all know women, friends, mothers, sisters, grandmother's aunties who have lost their lives to BC and many surviving. Such an amazing cause. Keep riding always.
