🔬 Red Light LED Therapy: A New Hope Against Bone Side Effects of HIV Medication

A new scientific study brings hope to long-term HIV patients. These individuals face a higher risk of osteoporosis due to the use of antiretroviral drugs, such as Tenofovir. Now, scientists have found that red light LED therapy could help reverse or at least mitigate the harmful effects of these drugs on bone cells.

In the latest experiment, researchers treated osteoblasts with Tenofovir and exposed them to red light LED (625 nm) irradiation. The results were encouraging: red light LED exposure could reverse or at least alleviate the harmful effects of Tenofovir on osteoblasts, and significantly reduce the decrease in osteoblast activity after drug exposure.

This is the first study to investigate the benefits of red light LED irradiation on osteoblasts treated with ARVs in vitro, providing a new research direction for HIV treatment and osteoporosis prevention. We look forward to this research bringing better quality of life and healthier bones for these patients.

Repetitive Low-Level Red Light (RLRL) Therapy: A New Strategy for Controlling Myopia in Children

Myopia has become a significant public health issue globally, particularly among children and adolescents. In a quest for effective solutions, scientists recently conducted a meta-analysis of seven Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) involving 1031 myopic children aged between 6 to 16 years. The analysis revealed that children who underwent Repetitive Low-Level Red Light (RLRL) therapy showed a significant reduction in axial length (AL) and a notable increase in spherical equivalent refraction (SER), indicating effective control of their myopia.

Importantly, RLRL therapy demonstrated significant effects regardless of whether children wore single-vision glasses or received other active treatments, including orthokeratology or low-dose atropine eye drops. Moreover, the effects of RLRL therapy remained consistent whether the treatment duration was six months or twelve months.

The findings offer a new possibility—using RLRL therapy to effectively control myopia in children, thus protecting their vision. This discovery undoubtedly paves a new path in the field of myopia control, providing a healthier and brighter future for our children.
