Something to fill in this evening that will make a big difference to our future in Dunedin.

Have your say on how Dunedin gets around 🚲🚶
DCC wants feedback on the draft Ōtepoti Pathways Strategy, a 30-year plan for walking, cycling and wheeling across the city. Submissions close 5pm Friday 16 October.
It's a transport plan, not a trails plan. But how safely we can ride to work, to school, around town and out to the trails all depends on it. If you ride in Dunedin, your voice counts.
To make it easy, here are some ideas for each question on the form. Pick what fits you and put it in your own words. A few honest sentences about your own riding are worth more than a long copy-paste.
1. Do you support the strategy? Please tell us why
💬 Safe, connected routes make Dunedin a better place to live, work and visit.
💬 More people riding and walking means fewer cars on the road and less congestion for those who need to drive.
💬 Being active as part of everyday life is good for health and wellbeing.
💬 Good routes help attract and keep people in Dunedin, and bring in visitors from the regional trails.
2. Have we missed anything important?
💬 Maintenance: glass, gravel and potholes can make a route unusable. Paths and cycle lanes should be maintained to the same standard as the road.
💬 E-bikes are making our hills manageable, but people need secure places to park them.
💬 Lighting and winter conditions matter in a southern city.
💬 Safe riding access to places people currently drive to for recreation, like local trailheads and reserves.
3. Barriers to walking, and to wheeling or cycling
Tick what's true for you. Common ones are lack of safe routes or crossings, traffic speed and driver behaviour, and lack of secure bike parking. In the comment box, name a specific spot where your ride or walk feels unsafe or the route just stops. Local detail is gold.
4. Opportunities to emphasise
Tick the ones that matter to you, such as health and wellbeing, safety and accessibility, tourism and economic development, and transport choice.
5. In 30 years, what should it look like?
💬 Continuous, safe routes from every suburb to the city centre, workplaces and schools, with no scary gaps in the middle.
💬 Finish the Tunnels Trail and connect it properly into the city and Mosgiel. It's the spine of the network and one of the most used potential corridors.
💬 Link Dunedin into the regional trail network: south to the Clutha Gold and on to Central Otago and the Queenstown Trail, and north toward Alps 2 Ocean. Dunedin should be a hub that visitors ride through, not a dead end.
💬 A route you ride often that you'd like to see improved or prioritised.
💬 Physically separated lanes on busy roads, not just paint.
6. Anything else before Council adopts the strategy?
💬 Ask for measurable targets so progress can be tracked.
💬 Ask for dedicated funding in the Long Term Plan so projects actually get built.
💬 Ask that the plan stays on course through future changes of council.

Duncan had a great experience doing his first (last) ironman in Taupo in March. Awesome event and definitely recommend. Great swim, shaved 30 mins off bike time and struggle city on the run but worth it...
Next stop Coast 2 Coast this year and a kayak course.
If you're an endurance runner, biker, swimmer and have unfortunately got an injury then get in touch as Reignite Physio understands the process to train and recover for these events.
If you want advice on strengthening programs/training programs to help with your running or biking or swimming then get in touch.
