My 2.5yr old granddaughter is obsessed with sunscreen. Caught out in bathroom by her mum 😂😂 It's the only product she has ever gone for on my shelves since she started walking. It was a give in that she got some for Xmas from me. This is all she will need to use daily up to age 12 - 13 as kids up to this age have their own natural moisturizing factors. The skin knows its job and is not compromised unless it gets sunburnt.

Don't let your young ones play around with or use your skin care products as this will compromise their skin and its barrier. Protecting them from UV daily, rain or shine is the best thing you can do. The sun is the biggest anti-ager, and it starts this young.

Pigmentation basics revisited... Back to the fundamentals. Part 2!

So, you know how that party animal melanocyte gets a little too lit and starts over-delivering melanin to the wrong addresses? Yeah, it's like it's stuck in party mode!

The usual suspects are to blame: the sun , UV exposure through the retina, skin trauma, sketchy skincare ingredients, hormonal chaos, synthetic birth control, pregnancy... you name it! Any of these triggers can get the melanin factory pumping overtime, and then UV shows up and it's like, 'Party's still raging, dude!'

So, here's the deal.

You gotta pamper that melanocyte and figure out what made it go rogue in the first place. Everyone's triggers are different, no one-size-fits-all solution here! Then, and only then, can you bring in the repair crew with their fancy ingredients to restore, protect, and maintain.

Newsflash: it's not a quick fix! It's a process, folks! You can't just slap on a surface-level solution and expect the melanin factory to calm down. That's all for now.

Part 1
The basics...

The melanocyte which pretty much looks like an upside-down octopus 🐙 with tentacles (dendritic arms) that stretch to the cells around it delivering melanin granules to give our skin it's natural colour and protect DNA of cell like an ⛱️ from UV rays

The surrounding cells need to be healthy to collect granules and the tentacles need to stay nice and stretchy to deliver melanin to cells, if neither of these are healthy or if the melanocyte (🐙)is in party mode by overstimulation the excess granules will fall in spaces between the cells 😟 making it difficult to clear. Prevention is easier than cure !!
