IS YOUR COLOUR FADING FAST?

Here’s some tips to stop your colour fading quickly.

* Wash less often – aim for 2–3 washes a week if you can. Every wash gradually removes colour.

* Use a colour-safe shampoo + conditioner – avoid harsh clarifying shampoos unless you specifically need one.

* Wash with lukewarm/cool water 🚿 – hot water opens the cuticle and can make colour fade faster.

* Use heat protection EVERY time – straighteners, curlers and hot blow-drying can accelerate fading.

* Turn the temperature down on your hot tools – ideally around 160–180°C where appropriate.

* Avoid excessive sun exposure – UV can fade colour, especially reds, coppers and blondes. A UV-protective hair product can help.

* Be careful with swimming 🏊‍♀️ – chlorine and salt water can strip/fade colour. Wet your hair with fresh water and use a leave-in conditioner before swimming.

* Don’t overuse purple/blue shampoo – it can make blonde/brunette tones look dull if used too frequently. Once every 1–2 weeks is often plenty, depending on the hair.

* Keep your hair moisturised – healthy, hydrated hair holds colour better. Use a mask or treatment regularly.

* Avoid products with lots of alcohol or strong cleansing ingredients if your hair is particularly colour-treated.

* Use a shower filter if you have hard water – mineral buildup can affect both colour and shine.

* Refresh your colour between appointments with a professional toner/gloss or colour-depositing treatment.
