MY LAST DAY!!

I feel a bit like the Queen if she were to retire from her duties and go and do something else with her a life because Clippers has quite literally been my Kingdom

I’ve reflected a lot over the last couple of weeks of what Clippers has taught me.
And I’ve come to the conclusion that like most of you already know & have had the pleasure to read at times or witness in the flesh -
But Clippers has taught me how to be Authentically Ria Wineera and to do Ria Wineera things

I’d like my legacy to go down in history, a lot like my Golden oldies still asking for “a Bill Norris”
Or the generation below asking “just do it like mum use to”
So now you can ask for “The Ria”
Which is a haircut where you’ll explain what you’d like - but the barber won’t listen and they’ll do whatever they want whilst humming the songs they’ve queued on their playlist that’s playing a little too loud 🤪

To everyone who has ever supported me - From the bottom of my heart, I thank you.
You walking in every day continued to keep me grounded, accountable & mostly GRATEFUL for the career path I inherited

Lastly -
Thank you for being along side of me throughout my journey and watching me grow, not only in my career but also in life

Just a little side note - please those with grandfathers/elderly fathers who come to me at clippers PLEASE can you let them know I have a week left
We all know how much I love my golden oldies and they are truly who I will miss the most so I would love to see them one last time before I leave 🫶🏽🫶🏽

Ria here - with one of my final messages

I always knew that when I grew up I was going to work for mum - even before she had her own shop

At 5 I folded towels at the Hair Cottage
At 9 I swept the floor at Lifestyles
At 11 I folded foils at Normanby Stylists
At 13 I washed combs and windows at Watsons
At 15 Clippers became my first real after school job
At 19 Mum took me on as her apprentice
At 21 I earnt my National Cert in Barbering
And at 30 I became Self Employed
To say I grew up in a Salon & Barber shop is as true as it gets
Hair is all I’ve ever known

Throughout my journey of barbering there wasn’t a second where I didn’t credit mum for all that my career is
Being a woman in a male dominated career is the greatest challenge I have ever faced within the 13 years in the shop
But I wouldn’t have been able to comfortably walk along this road if mum had never paved the way with her bare hands, her hard work, her late nights, her “of course” when asked “can you fit one more in?”

So to mum (Paula) I am so grateful you chose this career because it’s quite literally become the foundation of not only my personality but my entire existence

I believe whatever mum decided to do, I was going to do that too!

After 13 years (plus some) I’ve decided it’s time to copy mum once more - and put my clippers down

13 years has been a treat.
I’ve watched babies grow into teenagers, teenagers into adults
I’ve had some of you suddenly flash me your gold card that was once an empty slot in your wallet!
Some of you park up outside and show off your new scooter you just bought.
And some of you I see no more but think of often

So this is my second but final goodbye announcement
So in true Ria style - I’m not giving you much notice 😬
My last day at clippers is on Thursday the 18th of June - which is your very last chance to receive a haircut from me EVER

Lastly, I want to say a huge thank you for your loyalty over the years, your trust, your patience but mostly your company

- I hope I’ve made an impact on your life as much as you all have on mine
