Come paint a Matariki set with me. ✨

This week’s Colour of the Week is Navy Marine from Kokoist Bottle N’ Go Beauty Bestie NZ , the NZ Nail Tech Summit is keeping me on my toes with the 6 week challenge!

I’m still getting the hang of filming these reels (and figuring out my new phone arm 😂), but I’m having so much fun learning something new.

This set was such a fun one to create.
I loved finishing it with a beautiful kōwhaiwhai accent from Nail Art Foils & Transfer Tattoos | NZ Made with Mana | By Caiti

Here’s to getting a little more confident with the reels and sharing more behind-the-scenes with you all.

There’s no bigger compliment than a referral. 🖤

One of my lovely clients recommended me to her mum, who came in for an Eye Trio and walked out loving her new brows and darker lashes.

We kept everything soft and natural, working with the beautiful full brows she already had (no 90s over-plucking history here. 😉). Sometimes a little tidy and definition is all that’s needed.

A little reminder that my referral programme is now live. After your first appointment, if someone books with me and lets me know you referred them, you’ll receive a $5 credit on your account once they’ve completed their first appointment.

Thank you so much for trusting me with the people you love. It genuinely means the world to a small business. 🫶

This week’s Colour of the Week, Navy Marine by Kokoist Bottle N’ Go, was the perfect choice for this Matariki-inspired set. 🌌

To add a little Matariki ✨sparkle✨, I finished the star with holo chrome for that magical, celestial glow.
I also featured a kōwhaiwhai accent nail designed by the incredibly talented Caiti from Nail Art Foils & Transfer Tattoos | NZ Made with Mana | By Caiti Representing whakapapa and new growth, the flowing koru design felt like the perfect way to ground this set, honouring our roots while welcoming the Māori New Year ahead.

I’ve never done a press on set so don’t judge me 😅 painting while they’re on magnetic stands was harder than I thought, I’m thinking next time I’ll stick to my hand AND THEN paint. 😂

Safe to say I love with how this set came together despite completely winging it 😜 💙

Okay, last post (maybe) 👀 about my colour of the week.

I’m absolutely obsessed with the luxe, rich brown glass vibes that Marrone Brown Glass by Kokoist Bottle N’ Go brings. 🤎✨

If you’re searching for the perfect winter mani colour, look no further. This translucent chocolate brown gives expensive handbag, gold jewellery, cosy knit and red wine energy all in one shade.

Safe to say this one has earned a permanent spot in my winter rotation.

Ever wondered why your nails sometimes feel hot in the lamp?

During curing, gel undergoes a process called polymerisation, where millions of small molecules rapidly bond together to form a hardened polymer network.
This reaction releases energy in the form of heat, known as an EXOTHERMIC REACTION.

Under certain conditions, this heat can reach temperatures of up to 75°C, which is why some clients experience what’s commonly called a “heat spike”. 🔥
Factors such as thicker application, highly pigmented or builder gels, thin or damaged nails, and high-powered lamps can all contribute.

A little warmth can be completely normal, but if it feels hot, please don’t try to tough it out. Remove your hand from the lamp and let your nail technician know.
Your comfort and safety should always come first with Bare Beauty 🖤

Had a last-minute cancellation, and this beauty was able to snap up the appointment.

We kept things nice and sleek, following her natural brow shape and adding a little extra definition without taking too much away.

Not feeling the full eye trio experience? That’s totally okay. Bare Beauty offers brow maintenance threading, as well as facial threading if you’re after a little tidy-up elsewhere.

Sometimes a small brow refresh is all it takes to feel a little more put together. 🖤

🤎 Colour of the the Week: Kokoist Bottle n Go – Marrone Brown Glass

I wanted to show just how versatile this colour is, so here it is in 5 different looks! ✨

🤎 Tortoiseshell
🤎 Over a solid light brown
🤎 Over a light brown cat eye for extra depth
🤎 With Kokoist Icy Water Magnet and a ribbed glass effect
🤎 And on its own

I love how different this shade can look depending on what you layer it over. My personal favourite has to be the ribbed glass!

Which one would you choose? 💅

Anyone into astrology? 👀✨

Guess this star sign correctly and I’ll have a little treat waiting for you next time you’re in the salon. 😂

Matariki is nearly here, and I’m so excited to celebrate with my whānau. This magical set for Maraia McCormack felt like the perfect way to welcome the season. 🌟

Now… drop your guesses below. What star sign do these nails give? 👇

Had the lovely .s in my chair recently. ✨

We had a little play around with some transfers from We added half of a pātiki (flounder) tukutuku design. In Māori symbolism, the pātiki is often associated with abundance, prosperity, and hospitality, making it a beautiful addition to this set.

One of the things I loved most about these nails was being able to incorporate elements from Matariki collection. The range includes some stunning tāniko and tukutuku-inspired designs that add so much meaning and storytelling to nail art. 👀 The Pātiki in these compositions symbolise Mataariki, the Mother star herself, surrounded by her tamariki which are expressed through the classic whetu symbols. These whetu are also shown suspended above the maunga, further reinforcing how the Maunga uplift us to the heavens, and are portals to our tūpuna.

Kaiya also chose Koru from TCG at for the base, which was the perfect backdrop for a little bit of sparkle without being too over the top.

I always love the creative part of an appointment where we start with an idea and slowly piece everything together until it feels just right. 👀

Thank you so much for coming in, Kaiya. I can’t wait to see you again soon.
