Wishing you all a Happy Chinese New Year
“Gong Hei Fat Choy” in Cantonese or “Xin Nian Kuai Le” (pronounced shin-nyen kwai-le) in Mandarin.
Welcome to the Year of the Rabbit (according to the Chinese lunar calendar/traditions). The Year of the Rabbit is a time to work smarter not harder. It is a time of self-reflection and to look after your well-being by resting when needed (quite different from the last year- the year of the Tiger which was a time of powerful action- and at times impulse). Rabbits are also symbols of luck, creativity, compassion, happiness and intuition - and are a reminder that life is full of possibility.
There are many ways that families, friends, and work mates can celebrate the new year. Some people clean their homes thoroughly, cut their hair, decorate their homes in red and gold, set off fireworks, give red envelopes containing money to children, and of course have amazing feasts
Family members often prepare dumplings ritually together. Meals can be symbolic. For example, long noodles signify hope for a long life, while fish is also popular because the Chinese word for fish sounds like the word for surplus, granting plenty for the year ahead.

Kjo & Jitsu are part of the foundations in Shiatsu. When we touch someone we experience different qualities under our hands. It may feel hard and resistant then, or soft and inviting. These differences give us information about the direction that our 'pressure' needs to meet. The approach comes with a listening and feeling giver that will loosen the tightness or holding the softness.
