✨Aufguss ✨

What is it? A German sauna ritual where a sauna host pours water, often infused with essential oils or natural aromas, over the hot rocks and then circulates the heat and steam throughout the room. The result is a more intense and immersive sauna experience that we have heard many people describe as feeling like a warm hug 🤗

As part of each sauna session, either Will or I come in three times over the hour to perform this ritual. It’s a wonderful opportunity to sit back, relax, and enjoy the heat. While it can feel intense at times, people consistently tell us how much they love Aufguss.

There is so much to learn about Aufguss, and there are many different ways to carry out sauna rituals. We are always keen to hear from people who have their own unique knowledge, traditions, or techniques to share with our sauna community ( Dm us! 🤓)

Kate brings beautiful energy to every sauna session she hosts. During this Solstice session, she will create a ritualistic and balancing experience, utilising nourishing self-care practices. Her intention is for you to move into the season ahead feeling lighter, more embodied, and with greater clarity ✨

We always say that a sauna on its own is great, but when it is parked in nature it really takes the experience to another level 💯

📍We are 10 minutes out of Greytown yet it feels like the middle of nowhere. Surrounded in bush, with birdsong and river flow for background noise, the sauna offers an opportunity to disconnect from the world for a little while and reconnect with the elements. Heading into winter and a time when we are mostly indoors, the sauna provides a unique opportunity to be at the river…and swim in it! It may seem crazy to some, but trust us when we say you won’t regret it!
