Scented Touch

A busy day today. Was harvesting Kawakawa from a wonderful, organic small bush just 9 minutes from where I live.

And I made some Kawakawa soap. That will be on sale in 4 weeks. It’s taken me a while to have enough infused oil to be able to make some and still have enough for my balm.

As I am no longer able to attend any of the Napier markets. All my Kawakawa balm and other stock is now available from Handmade In The Bay - a summer pop-up store in Emerson Street, opposite Jesters. My balm is made with organic beeswax, and Kawakawa infused olive oil, or a combination of Kawakawa and Calendula infused in olive oil. That's it.
I only wild harvest Kawakawa from healthy plants, and on the sunny side of the bush, in the morning after the dew has dried on the plant and before it starts to get hot in the day. I say a karakia (prayer) on entering to harvest and always ask permission from the plants. I give thanks before I leave the area and give an offering in exchange of energy, following Māori rongoā. I only harvest the ‘grandparent’ leaves, ones with a flare at their base and with ‘parent’ and ‘child’ leaves above them. This is so the plant can keep growing. Otherwise the growth of the branch is stunted,
and I harvest trying to cause as little damage to the host plant as possible.
All my work is done with the utmost respect for the plants and appreciation, and love for them. This love and energy is then actually infused into the balm itself. Available in 3 sizes starting from $15.00

Hi everyone. For those regulars to my stall at the Napier markets, I've been unable to attend either due to ongoing health issues, but now I am selling my Kawakawa balms, soaps and candles from the Handmade in the Bay, summer pop-up store in Emerson street. Right opposite Jesters. For those needing to replenish their stock.
Check out the other bits I have there as well, like Poofection, a toilet spray made with organic essential oils. Just spray 4 or 5 times into the bowl before you go. Blocks odours from escaping the loo. All natural ingredients.
I really miss being at the markets, but simply am unable to lug all my boxes, bottles and jars around anymore. So, you can now get them in town. Thanks heaps for your support over the years I've been doing this. 🙂
