We’ve always believed there are people in this industry doing incredible things who don’t necessarily get recognised for them.

Not because they’re not making an impact.
Sometimes they’re just not the loudest person in the room.

They’re the people putting in the work.

The people contributing in ways that make this industry stronger.

The people helping move things forward, often without expecting recognition for it.

And we think that deserves to be acknowledged.

So, new for LABSNZ 2027, we’re introducing the LABSNZ Vanguard Awards.

These awards aren’t about who has the biggest following or who is the most visible.
They’re about recognising genuine contribution.

The industry will nominate the people they believe deserve to be seen.
Those nominees will have the opportunity to accept their nomination and submit an application.
From there, our judging panel will select the Vanguard Finalists, with recipients revealed at LABSNZ 2027.

We’ll be sharing the categories and exactly how nominations will work soon.
But for now, we can finally tell you what the V means.

Because LABSNZ was never meant to be two days of sitting quietly in your seat.

It’s about learning, connecting, seeing, doing and being in the room with the industry.

We actually wanted to implement this at LABSNZ this year.

But the more we started pulling it apart, the more we realised it needed a lot more thought than a last-minute “f*ck it, let’s add it” 😂

We needed to work out what it would actually look like, how it would work, where it would sit within LABSNZ and, most importantly, how to make sure it actually meant something.

So we didn’t rush it.

We parked it.

And gave ourselves the time to build it properly.

Turns out 2027 might be the year. 👀
