The most common statement I get from my root touch up clients is “I know I need to embrace my grey eventually” and to that I say “only if you want to” there is no age limit on hair colouring, but when your ready and want to embrace your natural hair I’m happy to discuss the process for your hair and the best way to achieve this. And if that day never comes that’s cool, there is literally no rules.

Apparently 2026 is the new 2016, so here’s a little reflection on my hairdressing journey — then vs now 🤍

In 2016 I’d been “qualified” for about 3 years and hairdressing for around 5–6. The photo you see? Literally the only hair photo I had that entire year. I worked somewhere where you didn’t build a clientele — people came for convenience, not connection. Social media wasn’t encouraged (were hairdressing socials even a thing ten years ago? 😂), and there definitely wasn’t time to photograph your work.

Foils were counted, cuts followed strict rules, and creativity was limited. That 2016 hair was clearly done at home in my kitchen — taking a client from black box dye to blonde with some creative freedom, not just chunky foils and hoping I’d find the same pieces next time.

Back then, I had no passion for what I did day to day. I never imagined owning my own salon or working for myself. I didn’t have a niche, and not long after, I decided I needed to study something else entirely.

Fast forward 10 years: I have a Bachelor of Accounting, I’ve worked in different salons and different accounting firms (or the same one under different names, IYKYK), had a baby, and truly discovered myself — not just as a person, but as an artist.

Here’s to growth, alignment, and the next 10 years ♥️

* Greasy hair? Girl, me too
* Don’t want to chat? 3 hours of silence works for me - so does a 3 hour yap. I’m here for it all
* Your grow out. You’re here now. That’s all that matters
* If you need to eat during your appointment. I can reheat your leftovers to eat while you process or if you show up with takeaways that’s cool too. Bring a whole 3 course meal. I won’t mind
* You need to vent? Give me the tea! I’m here for it and this is a safe space
* If you have been somewhere else. You are always welcome back whenever ♥️

Some cuteness for your feeds today! Nick and I are pleased to announce the arrival of our gorgeous girl Walker June on Wednesday morning this week.

She arrived with a bit of drama so we are spending a few nights in SCBU. But she’s doing really well and we will hopefully be off home over the next few days.

Can’t wait to tell you all about her
