🌞 Why We Choose Organic (Mineral) Sunscreen at Bareface Beauty 🌱
Hi beautiful people! 💛 I just shared a video about why it really matters what kind of sunscreen you’re using — and I wanted to break it down for you here too.
Not all sunscreens are created equal. Many conventional (chemical) sunscreens contain ingredients like avobenzone, oxybenzone, octinoxate and others that are designed to be absorbed into your skin so they can chemically block UV rays. Because they pe*****te into your skin to work, there’s concern — and research ongoing — about these chemicals getting into the bloodstream and potentially contributing to hormonal disruption and irritation for some people.
In contrast, organic (mineral) sunscreens — the kind we love and recommend — use natural mineral filters like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. These act like tiny mirrors on the surface of your skin, reflecting harmful UVA and UVB rays without being absorbed deep into your body.
✨ Benefits of choosing organic/mineral sunscreen:
✔️ Sits on the skin’s surface instead of sinking in — ideal for sensitive or reactive skin.
✔️ Often better tolerated — fewer irritations or allergic reactions.
✔️ Gentle for everyday use, even on delicate skin.
In saying that, the most important thing is that you wear some sunscreen daily — sun damage is a major cause of premature aging and skin cancer especially in our New Zealand sun.
Stay glowing and protected! ✨

🌸 Why Your At-Home Skincare Is 80% of the Work !
I often get asked about all the fancy in-clinic treatments — things like facials, Dermal Needling, Microdermabrasion, Laser, or collagen-boosting therapies. And yes, they can do amazing things for your skin. But here’s the truth I always share with my clients…
✨ Your home skincare routine is around 80% of the work ✨
Think of your daily skincare as the foundation — it’s what keeps your skin healthy, balanced, and glowing every single day. What you do at home morning and night has the biggest long-term impact on how your skin looks and feels.
Your cleansers, serums, moisturisers, and sunscreen are the quiet achievers — the ones doing all the heavy lifting while you go about your life. Research has shown that consistent homecare supports the skin barrier, improves hydration, and helps maintain your results far longer than one-off treatments alone.
Now, that doesn’t mean professional treatments aren’t worth it! In fact, I love them — they’re what I call the “bridge” between your home care and your skin goals.
Treatments like, Dermal Needling, Microdermabrasion or rejuvenating facials and peels give your skin a boost and help target deeper concerns that homecare can’t reach. But they’re most effective when your skin is already healthy and supported by a good daily routine.
So yes, book your treatments, pamper yourself, and enjoy that glow-up — but remember, the real magic happens every morning and night in your own bathroom. Consistency is your secret weapon 💫
With love,
Brooke x

I often get asked about the best treatment for things like scars and red veins, skin texture and firmness — should you go for Plasmapen, Laser, Dermal Needling, or Electrolysis? 💭
Here’s a quick little guide to help you understand the difference between them — each one works in its own special way depending on your skin concerns. 💫
If you’re not sure what’s right for your skin, I’m always happy to guide you towards the best option for your skin and the right person ❤️
So, with Plasmapen, it works by creating tiny little sparks on the surface of the skin to help tighten and lift. It’s really good for things like fine lines and loose skin, but not so much for red veins or deeper scarring. Because it uses heat, it can sometimes make redness or sensitivity worse on certain skin types.
Laser treatments are usually the best option for red veins. The laser light targets the tiny blood vessels directly, helping them to collapse and fade over time. There are different kinds of lasers, but vascular ones are designed specifically for redness and visible veins. Laser can also work deeper to resurface the skin, helping with texture, fine lines, pigmentation, acne scars, and overall skin renewal.
Then there’s dermal needling, which uses fine needles to gently trigger your skin to produce new collagen and elastin. It’s great for improving scars, texture, and overall skin tone. It won’t remove red veins, but it helps smooth and even out the skin over time.
And lastly, electrolysis — this uses a very fine needle with a tiny electrical current to treat individual hairs or small red veins. For veins, it works best on those finer surface capillaries, especially if there are only a few visible ones. It’s more of a targeted treatment rather than a full-face option like laser.
