An ode to 8 years of being in Pelvic Floor Movement Teacher world. ✨

Following Georgi on social media and working with her transformed my life. We first met during a hypnobirthing class back in 2018 when she came to talk about Kangatraining and babywearing.

During my pregnancy, I experienced diastasis recti, suffered a second-degree tear during childbirth, and at just 28, was diagnosed with a hypertonic pelvic floor and a prolapse.

Georgi’s knowledge on pelvic health is unparalleled. I had done pelvic floor rehab before having my son but could never connect my breath to my pelvic floor...until I did a session with Georgi. Thanks 🪼! She taught me to breathe right, stop tucking in, and stop leaning on the kitchen counter!

During lockdown, her online Kangatraining sessions were pure joy. Later, we both moved from Hamilton to New Plymouth, and the women’s circles she held became my social anchor & lifeline when I was new to town.

She also taught me about my cycle through her “Inner Season” program. It completely transformed my life. It stopped me from thinking I was going crazy, improved my relationship with my husband, and now influences how i work and support my own clients.

Obviously, we can’t cover all of Georgi’s expertise in just one hour. she truly is a women’s champion! (If you don’t follow her yet, fix that right now).

So… what’s happening this week?
This week in Bubble, we get to learn from Georgi about breathing, footwear, and the pelvic floor! Georgi is the co-founder of Barefoot Shoes & Accessories Store in NZ (with Mari), offering one of the biggest selections of barefoot shoes in NZ with the absolute best customer service. 👟

I’ve worn barefoot shoes for nearly 4 years. As someone who wore high heels from age 12 and was developing bunions, switching to barefoot shoes completely reversed the damage. They are so comfortable that I even forgot I was wearing them on an 18-hour long-haul flight!

From proper breathing at the gym and cycle awareness, to amazing shoes and knowing there is hope if you wee when you sneeze, laugh, or cough... inviting Georgi to speak in Bubble was a total no-brainer.

I am so excited it’s Thursday!

Thank you for being you, Georgi❤️

I made it to .organics with a day of delay !!!
Got a DF GF snickers to celebrate my business 4th birthday and also, my late grand dad’s birthday.

I chose the 10th of June specifically because it would have been his birthday. And without my grandparents and my mum, I would never have been able to open the business with the Cocoon how it is.
He passed when I was 15, he was the steadiest male figure in my life growing up and I know he’d want the best for me, and I trust that he is looking out for me and that choosing his birthday is good luck 💖

So as the business turns 4 and I get to celebrate the clients who got me there, the coaches who hit me there, with special mentions to , .haworth and , ,

A special mention for .fr who designed the website (and who is always there for a victory dance), .my.words.nz who wrote my website, .sshi who’s been elevating my designs, who’s teaching me to put my brain on paper to outsource, and .bianchin for always believing in me, my mum for teaching me about grit and paying for school and of course, my husband .marshmallow who developed my website, is the CTO in the business and (not as much anymore) the emotional fluffed and held the helm when it felt that everything was crumbling around me and for carrying most of the mental load at home so I can give so much to my business.

A reminder that when you are surrounded by the most amazing people, amazing things happen!

Here is to an amazing year 5, to continuing to build momentum and reap the rewards of all of the hard work, all of the learning and keep on delivering epic services to keep the bar as high as it’s been so far, to honour the trust each client who works with me places in me 💖

Whoever said “find a job that you love and you’ll never work a day in your life” was an employee 😂 I love my job and yet, running a business comes with a million things I don’t love. However, it is a privilege to get to hold and do those… as I would not have my business without them. As a plus… they can all be outsourced as the business grows, which is exciting.
When I launched my business, I used to dream of being where I am now (if only I could tell past Amélie that we will succeed) and I would compare myself to other business owners, years ahead of me or even to businesses in completely different industries. I know now how pointless and toxic that was.

Success is built from everyday AND success gets to be what it looks like for you. Being busy and rolling in millions don’t have to be everyone’s definition of success.

I thought I’d write a bit of milestone roster, for myself and for anybody who’s starting something. Make it exist first and iterate later. That’s how things get done.

According to Stats NZ’s long-term business demography data, fewer than half (around 41% to 46%) of Kiwi businesses survive to see their 5th year… and here I am, kicking it off, stronger than ever! (I mean technically, I registered the company in October 2020… and was already buidling the business then, but building permits and renovation meant starting to trade in June 2022… if the saying it takes 7 to 10 years to build an overnight success is true… I am really going to celebrate October like crazy this year)

According to Gemini (super reliable, I know) the fact that my business didn’t just survive the tough NZ economic climate of 2024 and 2025, but actually grew its monthly average by 46.26% during that exact period, is phenomenal.

I know my business is on the cusp of coming out of it’s reinvestment phase to turn into it’s profitable phase… and after 4 years of reinvesting almost everything in the business I am really excited for it! But I have to say, what I am thinking most excited about this year is the new modalities I am training in, which means I’ll get to be of service to my clients even more 🥰
And that is really where it’s at for me 🥰
Here’s to year five. 🥂

I took this shot just over a week ago, after a beautiful evening with friends.
And as I stepped back into my home I felt gratitude absolutely over take me 💖 because of all of the love that was present.

From my friends earlier in the evening
From my mum who gifted me the jeans I am wearing in the photo (and the socks, not pictured)
From the friend who gifted me my pink that turns me into a marshmallow and that actually was so perfect for me, that it is a part of how people recognise me at somatic events 💖 and brought the “marshmallow” word into my business.

From my beautiful client who hand knitted me the beanie I am wearing in the photo 💖

We are taught to look for the best things and I think we might have gotten a bit jaded in the process 💖

If you look around you, looking up from your phone if you are home, how many tangible things can you see, that came into you life from love ?

How many people surround you, that being love to your life 💖

If it’s dark and you can see your reflection in a window… did you include yourself in that list ?

How much love is in your life right now ?
If you’re chasing the “best” version of something and feel all of the frustration and the lacking and the not enoughness, tune into that love.

Because you are enough 💖 just as you are !

2 years of Gladys 🥰✨
Skill number 154987 that I didn’t know I’d learn through running a business 😂!

In December 2023, my table’s hydraulic pump broke, and for 6 months, I looked at new treatment table options daily. clenching my teeth…the business had no money available to replace it. 🫠
My pricing was wrong at the time (I had forgotten to factor me in my pricing (whoops)🫣) so the business was really struggling and also… I did not want to buy new and I knew I wanted an electric option.

My back was starting to be really painful during treatments, and I know I can’t look after you if I don’t look after myself first.

Eventually, I found this beauty on FB Marketplace for $150 🤯 A physio clinic was downsizing. I got her, and she stayed in the garage for a loooooong time, because I wanted to find second-hand pleather or leather.
Eventually, my back became too sore, and I gave up and bought the fabric new.

After 3 days of intensive work, loooooots of cold sweats when cutting the foam, some hand sewing, some machine sewing (who knew my taking sewing during my exchange would be useful in my job 12 years later), a lot of elbow grease, a lot of sitting on it or using my feet for leverage when I stapled the pleather tight… I had a new-looking treatment bed.

A wider one, to suit my bigger clients ❤️, a plushier one to suit everyone and a beautiful looking cream pleather 😊, that nobody ever sees because she’s always covered 😂!

I always name things in the Cocoon, and since I am glad that she is… she is Gladys.

One person’s trash is another’s treasure. And we have so much in circulation already that we might as well reuse and fix things.

Don’t look at her from underneath, she’s a tad self-conscious because I was highly doubtful of my skill and thus never popped the finishing strip on, and now we’re two years in and until today, nobody knew… so it’s staying like that! 😝

This is only one of the many skill I never knew I’d eventually need to learn in order to run my business ! But you know what my favourite part is about this skill and this job? It was finite, it is done and you, my clients, love her as much as I do

Amélie Hendrickx • Sweat with Pride 31/05/2026

I am doing a thing this year 🥰 - I am participating in Sweat with Pride, to raise funds to support the Rainbow Community 🌈

Until equity is achieved … there is support to give 🥰
I believe that people love people, no matter the gender
And I grew up surrounded by people from the LGBTQIA+, and who they are or who they love was never a big deal, and they all only ever led with love and care, even when they were met with hate and judgment so much.

Inclusivity is a core value of both the business and I and I believe love and kindness have the power to change the world 🥰 I can't support everyone everywhere, so I choose this.

Rights are being attacked everywhere! And it always starts with the most vulnerable communities.

I believe it is a duty to speak up, and it is time the business and I do so because remember

First They Came – by Pastor Martin Niemöller

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me
———————————————————

Equity supports everyone, it’s about all of us, so I’ll be sweating with Pride during my busiest month of the year 🥰 to showcase support, love and kindness. Let's stop doing things for others only when it is convenient to us, and do them when it is needed.

Follow along in stories and you can donate here

Thank you ❤️

Amélie Hendrickx • Sweat with Pride I’m taking on Sweat with Pride this June to raise money for our Rainbow communities! 💦🌈 Our schools, workplaces, and doctors’ offices are still not safe places for many Rainbow New Zealanders and it’s putting lives at risk.
