Alternative ways I use plants on my hair 🌿✨🧚🏼🪴🌱

Not everything needs to come in fancy plastic packaging. Some of my favorite hair care secrets come straight out of the pantry, while others are handmade by amazing local creators like Nina Radich
who makes the most beautiful botanical products.
As a hairstylist there are a few simple plant based swaps I love using at home specifically the curl gel made from flaxseeds ✨

Cornstarch Dry Shampoo: When I want an aerosol free alternative to traditional dry shampoos, simple cornstarch dusted through the roots absorbs oil gently. You can even add a drop or two of your favorite essential oil.

Apple C***r Vinegar Rinses: I love using an ACV rinse in the shower before I shampoo. It helps clear scalp buildup, balances pH levels, and leaves the hair feeling so clean and shiny. I stock Nina Radich blend in my studio🍎✨

Herbal Tea Rinses: I alternate with different herb infused rinses depending on what my hair needs like chamomile to soothe the scalp, green tea for stimulation, or blue lotus for hydration.

Scalp oiling: for hair growth and massage, a blend like castor oil, h**p seed & rosemary beautiful way for a grounding scalp massage. When I do this, I time this one before I pop in the shower. 🔆✨

What I love about working with hair is looking at it through a much wider lens than just the traditional one. Hair tells us so much more than most of us realise and many cultures and ancient traditions have honored this connection with deep care for centuries.

After seeing so many heads of hair over the years and witnessing the incredible shift that happens when people lean into a more holistic approach to hair care, it’s amazing to see what the body is capable of when we truly listen to it.

Maybe this is why I’ve never been able to see
hair as just hair.
It holds so much more than we realise. 🤍

What makes you happy? ✨

Between routines, life, and work demands, there is always something grasping for our time and attention. For many, a peaceful escape is the only time their minds are truly able to shut off from the outside noise.

To carve out a quiet corner for scalp health, a soothing massage, and more grounded, slow appointments, that is where the magic happens. Whether you are coming in for blonding or a transformative haircut, your time is intentionally carved out just for you. 🧚🏼✨

🤍 What does your ideal moment of quiet look like this weekend?

It’s the number one thing I hear in the chair, “I didn’t even know my head was tight or realise the tension I’ve been holding”.

We hold so much tension in our scalps, temples, and neck without even noticing. A little release goes a long way, whether you’re booking in or taking a moment for yourself at home 🤍

A scalp ritual doesn’t have to end at the salon, it can meet you at home. Sometimes it can look like at the end of my day sitting in my own chair and taking some time for myself, or if I need regulating moving through some big energy.

To hold others is beautiful, but so is holding ourselves

When I first launched my business, I knew putting myself on social media was something I had to be brave about. But I made a promise to myself early on. I didn’t want to sell myself, and I didn’t want it to feel like a big performance.

We all know the toll social media and constant comparison can take on mental health. I’m not here to be controversial, I just value real conversations, real openness, and staying true to why I fell in love with hairdressing in the first place. For the craft and the nurturing of others.
