It was busy creative weekend! 😅 🌿⚘️

On Saturday we were creating Natural lip balms in reusable paper tube at Waste free expo and Repair cafe with Waitaki Resource Recovery Park Waste Free Waitaki and Just One Thing Waitaki. Kids were so excited to make lip balms for themselves and even for their nanas 😍

On Sunday we were making Herbal hand balms in reusable glass jars for kids. They could choose from Rose, Calendula or Lavender infused oils. 🪻But Lavender was the greatest hit! Big thanks to free Waitaki, Waitaki Multicultural, Justyna Miller and Satoko from Pottery patch.

It seemed that kids really enjoyed to smell and touch beeswax, weigh it and smell the herbs essential oils 🌿

What is coming over the next few days:

Saturday 25th July: 10am-2pm Waste free expo and Repair cafe, Scottish hall.

🌱 Help Rewild Cape Wanbrow! 🌱

The North Otago Forest & Bird Society and Matukutuku – Ancient Cape Wanbrow Project are inviting the community to join a native planting day at Lookout Point on Cape Wanbrow.

📍 Lookout Point, Cape Wanbrow

The goal is to plant around 400 native plants as part of a long-term project to restore and rewild the cape for future generations. With enough helping hands, the planting should only take a couple of hours.

There are plenty of ways to get involved — helping transport plants, placing plants, putting up plant protectors, or watering.

🧤 Please bring:
• Gardening gloves
• Suitable footwear
• Sun protection
• Optional tools such as a trowel, post hole shovel, or watering can
Please sign in at the carpark on arrival and volunteers will help you find a task.

This is the first of many planting days planned over winter, with around 3,000 plants to go in — so come along and be part of restoring this special place!
