Popped in over the last few days to massage this lady, JENNI’S RAINBOW 🌈... What a great win. Congratulations to all the connections. Well done Team Brideoake. 😊😁
Here’s an interesting clip of the hoof. Ever wonder about Laminitis, or the odd abscess? Have a quick watch 😁
A short video we recently made looking at the complex anatomy of the internal hoof capsule and how when we as farriers drive nails into the hoof we are doing so with such small margins for error. Www.efarrieryeducation.com

Spent some time giving this little lady, Princess Jenni, a good massage all over this afternoon. She’s a genuine little star in the David Brideoake Racing team. 🥰❤️
Shot up to Flemington earlier this week to massage a couple of horses of Tony Pikes racing team... The Bostonian and Spring Bouquet... its great to help them keep loose and free. 😁
Meet Honey. The sweetest wee girl. This is Molly Joblings little girl. She’s just having a nice relaxing day, getting spoilt with a massage on a beautiful day on the Mornington Peninsula, VIC. 🥰
Please take care, for those of you that are applying tongue-ties and the likes. ❤️
Not only is it potentially fatal for the horse if you get this wrong, if it’s fortunate enough to not be fatal, their tongue hangs outside of their mouth because they can no longer move it.
Be kind to your horse 🐴❤️
With a bit of warm shelter from the cooler weather, these guys are still loving their massage 🥰
Have a spare 45mins between massages this afternoon... plenty time to let little Ayra have a snack, toilet and play 😂💦
Happy Easter Everyone. Laugh, Eat & Play..😁
Be safe over the holidays. EQUESTRELEASE
Out massaging this handsome chap ‘BREAK MY STRIDE’ in Mornington this afternoon for trainer Joe Waldron. This fella thoroughly enjoyed his massage session, with lots of smooches afterwards.
What a wonderful set up and team of horses Joe has. Here’s to an exciting future. Onwards and Upwards. 😁
It’s always a team effort.. 😁🥰
Something to keep in mind if you think you may’ve come across these symptoms 😁
practicalhorsemanmag.com Recognizing the signs of equine neurological disorders and starting treatment early will give your horse his best chance of recovery from these diseases.
It’s been a bit dusty lately here in Melbourne and some of our horses are starting to cough. Our horses are carrying their carriage much closer to ground level than we are, and inhaling the dust they kick up. Don’t forget to wipe away the mucus and dust from their nostrils to help keep a clear passageway for breathing. If you have deeper concerns, contact your vet.
😁❤️
Was out and about massaging today on the Mornington Peninsular, Melbourne. This is last start winner (Camilla Lucinda) or also known as ‘Lucy’, having a Post-Race Massage. She’s really enjoying her massage, having lots of releases. A massage is a great way to help them recover quicker from an event. 😁🥰
Keep an eye on the small signs...❤️
This horse has heart 💓 failure. This is where her heart is now struggling to pump blood around her body. There are lots of different signs of this condition (lethargy, increased respiration, coughing, even fainting) but distension (swelling of blood vessels)can sometimes be the most striking.

Here’s an interesting example of a human foot vs a horses leg. This illustrates the similarities of our bone structures to theirs.
Notice how many years it takes before a horses’ skeleton has developed and matured.
Education time... it’s always nice to be aware of subtle issues which can make life a little difficult... have a read 😁❤️
ker.com Because horses spend a substantial portion of each day eating and grazing, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction and pain can negatively affect the horse’s overall health.
Time to get back into it. Lets help relieve some horses and get them to their best.

These two videos compare the locomotive patterns (gait characteristics) of a long, stretched and unrestricted head position in comparison to cervical hyperflexion (which can be likened to rolkur).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Pay particular attention to:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🐎 Shortened stride length with cervical hyperflexion; longer stride length and duration with an unrestricted head and neck.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🦄 Overtrack whilst working in a stretched position compared to an undertrack when in cervical hyperflexion.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🐎 Consistent, fluent and subtle waving of the top of the lines during long and low in comparison to the sharp and abrupt rising and falling in cervical hyperflexion. This indicates how the horse lacks suppleness through the thoracolumbar spine (back) as upward forces are generated through momentum rather than propulsive forces generated by musculoskeletal potential energy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🦄 Inconsistency of joint flexion when in cervical hyperflexion.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🐎 Decreased “sinking”/extension of the fetlock (metacarpophalangeal and metatarsophalangeal) joints; most significantly noted in the pelvic (hind) limbs. This suggests that there are reduced shock-absorbing capabilities of these joints, potentially increasing the risk of injury.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🐎 The movement of the ears and soft eyes when long and low, in comparison to the fixed eye and ear position in cervical hyperflexion.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🦄 Decreased tarsal (hock) joint extension during the latter phases of the step cycle.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
◼️ There are so many crucial observations in these two videos with a lot of discussion points that cover more than this post. I’d love to hear peoples thoughts. ◼️

This is also good to do with your horse if you have recently had an accident or mishap that may leave your TRUSTY STEED feeling a bit stiff and achey.
I always recommend seeing your vet, first and foremost if you have had an accident, but this will help with the aches in the mean time.
Happy Riding Everyone
Hot towelling over the loin or back after a workout will help muscles recover better. 1 cup Epsom salt with hot water to soak your towels in, wring out the water, then lay them in position. Cover with an old rug or sack to keep the steam coming in via ripl.com

horsespirit.site We all know how bits work and we think that we know all about it, that it is not difficult to get to know how each bit mechanically operates. It is not always the case and the right thing to do to use a strong bit because certain horses react differently to different bits. Using ‘les’ bit can so...
