This month we're excited to be supporting a business that has quickly become a valued part of our community — The Gym💪🤍

What started as a family conversation about the long drive into Palmerston North after a full day's work to get to the gym became a vision to create something right here in Ashhurst. A space where fitness is for everyone, regardless of age, experience, or fitness level, and where staying active is accessible and affordable.

Like many small businesses, their journey wasn't without challenges. After finding the right location, countless hours were spent planning, cleaning, painting, sourcing equipment, and overcoming setbacks to bring that vision to life. The result is a welcoming space that continues to support the health and wellbeing of our community.

In a relatively short time, they've already become great supporters of local events, community initiatives, and individuals. Their commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, community-focused environment is something we're proud to celebrate.

Humble beginnings 🩷

Where it all started. This little room.

I still have clients (and now friends) who started here with me. They’ve watched the business grow and change right alongside life happening in the background too.

Two babies, a wedding, a deployment, adapting work schedules around life, changing availability, learning new skills, new treatments… and a lot of growth along the way.

The room changed. The business changed. But so many of you stayed.

It’s pretty special looking back at this little space and realising what it grew into 🤍

Somehow some of you have seen every version of me along the way… and still chose to stay 🙌🏼🙏🏼✨

This month we’re proud to support local artist Nicola Gregory artist, who creates from her home studio in the Pohangina Valley, surrounded by the land and rhythms that inspire her work 🤍

With over 20 years as a practicing artist, Nicola’s paintings are deeply connected to story, place, and a sense of home. Her work reflects a slower, thoughtful process — shaped by rural life, family, and a genuine commitment to her craft.

Nicola also gives back to our community through teaching art to local children and sharing her creativity with others. Her work can be found locally at County Fayre in Pohangina, as well as exhibitions across New Zealand.
