Off the Bar Therapy
Level 3 Fascial Stretch Specialist, and level 6 remedial massage therapist. What is FST and who can benefit from it?
It is a type of stretching that targets the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, bones, and joints. Through using traction the entire joint and joint capsule are addressed, this helps to remove restrictions, which can help with increasing range of motion and stimulating lubrication within the joint. It is also addressing the plane/lines of fascia, not just the individual muscle. Quite simply it’s like wearing your tightest pair of jeans and then exchanging them for a comfortable pair of track pants after having a FST session. Anyone can benefit from having a session of FST, professional athletes, weekend warriors, people with tight hips, shoulders, people with desk jobs or low back pain. It increases range of motion, can improve performance, improve posture and muscle function to name a few benefits. By improving function, pain can be eliminated or improved. If your interested in a session, please contact me on 021 779 364 or send me a private message. I also have my photography page, Off the Bar Photography, previously known as Cindy McMurtrie Photography.

So, I may have broken myself. Looks like I have a tear in my hamstring but waiting on an ultrasound next week to diagnose. Pretty sure it is because I felt it pop and give way on me. And it has some spectacular bruising to show for my efforts.
At this point in time I think I'll be able to massage this coming week. I'm getting around ok with walking and standing but need crutches for stairs and slopes. I may have to ask some clients to reduce from 90mins to an hour. If I'm unable to I will be in contact to reschedule.
In the meantime, this is why I ask if you had any bruising when you injured yourself, strain etc, as it's an indication of a tear or potentially what grade of tear.

How has it been 9 years since I went to Canada and trained as a stretch therapist?? Certainly haven't looked back and love having it as a modality in my tool kit.
